Deon Lendore
Deon Kristofer Lendore (28 October 1992 – 10 January 2022) was a Trinidad and Tobago sprinter who specialised in the 400 metres. He won a bronze medal in the 4 × 400 metres relay event at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and won medals at the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships, World Athletics Championships and World Athletics Indoor Championships. Lendore died in a car collision in Texas, United States, on 10 January 2022. Early life and college career Lendore was born in Mount Hope, Trinidad and Tobago, later moving to Texas where he started competing for Abilene Christian Wildcats. He attended Queen's Royal College, and later Texas A&M University, where he competed in the school's track and field team from 2012–2014. Sprint (running)
Sprinting is running over a short distance at the top-most speed of the body in a limited period of time. It is used in many sports that incorporate running, typically as a way of quickly reaching a target or goal, or avoiding or catching an opponent. The men's 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place on March 19 and 20, 2016. In the first leg of the final, Bahamas' Michael Mathieu was the first to break, keeping Kyle Clemons behind him through the entire leg. Dylan Borlée from the Borlée Brothers Team, Belgium, held off Jamaica's Ricardo Chambers until just before the handoff. The USA executed an ideal first handoff, with Clemons just edging ahead of Mathieu on the final straightaway, reaching across the zone to hand off to Calvin Smith Jr. who gained a two-metre lead over Alonzo Russell in the exchange. From there, USA went unchallenged to the gold medal, continually expanding the lead. After a short battle with Jamaica's Dane Hyatt, Jonathan Borlée ducked in behind Russell. Queen's Royal College ( St.Clair, Trinidad), referred to for short as QRC, or "The College" by alumni, is a secondary school in Trinidad and Tobago. Originally a boarding school and grammar school, the secular college is selective and noted for its German Renaissance architecture, academic performance and alumni representation in sports, politics and science in Trinidad and Tobago and globally. Abilene Christian Wildcats
Abilene Christian Wildcats (variously ACU or ACU Wildcats) refers to the sports teams of Abilene Christian University located in Abilene, Texas. The Wildcats joined the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) on July 1, 2021 after having spent the previous eight years in the Southland Conference. The nickname "Wildcat" is derived from the mascot of the team. World Athletics Indoor Championships
The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Organised by the World Athletics, the competition was inaugurated as the ''World Indoor Games'' in 1985 in Paris, France and were subsequently renamed to IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1987. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019. They have been held every two years except for when they were held in consecutive years 2003 and 2004 to facilitate the need for them to be held in alternate years to the main World Athletics Championships (outdoors) in the future. 2011 Central American And Caribbean Championships In Athletics
The 2011 Central American and Caribbean Championships in Athletics were held in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. The event served as classifiers for the 2011 World Championships in Athletics and took place from July 15–17, 2011. It was the fourth time Puerto Rico hosted the event; the first time in Ponce in 1975, and later in San Juan in 1989 and 1997. The Jamaican delegation topped the medals table with 26 medals (ten of them gold).
