Denzel Clarke
Denzel Leslie Clarke (born May 1, 2000) is a Canadian professional baseball outfielder for the Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2025. Career Clarke attended Everest Academy in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada. He was drafted by the New York Mets in the 36th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft, but did not sign and played college baseball at California State University, Northridge. After three years at Northridge, he was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the fourth round of the 2021 MLB Draft and signed. Clarke made his professional debut with the Arizona Complex League Athletics. He started 2022 with the Stockton Ports before being promoted to the Lansing Lugnuts. In July, he was selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game. In 93 games split between the two affiliates, Clarke batted a combined .248/.365/.469 with 15 home runs, 47 RBI, and 30 stolen bases. An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. A wall climb is a play in baseball where a fielder makes an out by catching a fly ball or pop up while climbing a wall. The play is generally made by outfielders robbing hitters of hits that otherwise would have been home runs, or at the very least a double. A wall climb can also be made by climbing the wall in foul territory to make an out.
