Denyo
Dennis Lisk (born 1977 in Hamburg), also known as Denyo, Denyo 77, Dennis Deutschland and Dennis Dubplate, is a German soul and hip hop musician and radio presenter. He was also host of the German television series ''Cover My Song''. Music career Lisk started his music career in the 1990s in the band formation Absolute Beginner (later just Beginner) that released three albums, ''Flashnizm'' (1996), ''Bambule'' (1998) and ''Blast Action Heroes'' (2003). The latter, their most successful, peaked at #1 in German Albums Chart and reached #3 in the Ö3 Austria Top 40 Albums Chart. They were signed to Universal with main members with Dennis Lisk as Denyo, Jan Delay (Eißfeldt) and DJ Mad. Other members were DJ Burn, rappers Nabil Sheikh, Mirko and Platin Martin. Beginner (band)
Beginner (formerly Absolute Beginner) is a German rap group from Hamburg, consisting of Jan Delay (aka Eizi Eiz/Eißfeldt), Denyo and DJ Mad. Their fourth album, ''Advanced Chemistry'', was released in August 2016. Band history The group was founded as Absolute Beginner in 1991, initially with six members: Jan Delay, Denyo, Mardin, DJ Burn, Nabil, Mirko, but the latter three dropped out after a few months. They started rapping in English and German with homemade beats, but later chose to rap solely in German. During their first public appearance they met DJ Mad, who immediately joined the group. In 1993 they released their first track, "K.E.I.N.E." on the sampler ''Kill the Nation With a Groove''. The same year they released their first EP, ''Gotting'', and embarked on their first tour. Brothers Keepers
Brothers Keepers is a German-based transnational anti-racism project, bringing together hip hop, reggae and soul musicians, headed primarily by Afro-Germans. Their debut single, "Adriano-Letzte Warnung", was written in response to the murder of Alberto Adriano by Neo-Nazis. It remains their most popular release, with more than 6 million views on YouTube. History The idea for the project took root when a German of Mozambiquan origin, named Alberto Adriano, was brutally killed by neo-Nazis in Dessau in 2000. Cover My Song
''Cover My Song'' is a German television series broadcast on VOX channel and hosted by German hip hop artist Dennis Lisk also known by his stage name Denyo. The program is formatted on the successful Dutch television series '' Ali B op volle toeren'' that had premiered on the Dutch TROS channel. The first German series ran from 30 August 2011 until 11 October 2011 and included 7 episodes. Format The program is prepared as a " docutainment" (documentary entertainment) in which the viewers would learn about the story of German artists, follow their progress in their own words and discover their artistic process in making their hits. The host/presenter would invite in each episode an artist from the pop music tradition, and another artist from hip hop / rap tradition. Jan Delay
Jan Phillip Eißfeldt (born 25 August 1976), known professionally as Jan Delay, is a German rapper and singer whose stylistic range includes mainly hip hop, reggae, dub and funk. An accomplished solo artist, he became known to the public as a member of the German bands Absolute Beginner and La Boom. He performed with his group 'Disko No. 1' at the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf. Early life Delay was born in Hamburg on 25 August 1976. He attended the bilingual Helene-Lange-Gymnasium from 1986 to 1995. Career In the 1990s, Delay became known as one third of the pioneering German hip hop group Beginner. Frederik Hahn (born September 29, 1971 in Heidelberg), better known by his stage name Torch, is a German rapper. He is also known as DJ Haitian Star. He was among the first German rappers who began rapping in German in the mid-1980s in Heidelberg, laying the foundation for the success of German hip hop music. In 1985, Afrika Bambaataa named him king of the first German chapter of the Zulu Nation and also gave him the title: Overlord of Sound & Culture. Career In 1987, Torch founded the group Advanced Chemistry with Toni L, Linguist, Gee-One and DJ Mike MD.
