Denton Creek
Denton Creek is a creek in Texas, beginning in Wise County, and flowing south-east into Denton County. It was dammed by the Army Corps of Engineers to make Lake Grapevine. The Army Corps of Engineers are in charge of the height but still flooded many areas in early 2016. After flowing out of the lake, it flows into the Trinity River. The creek and lake are popular for fishing, boating, and recreation due to its location within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The creek has many forks along its path. The creek flows into the lake in the area known as Trophy Club Park (formerly Marshall Creek Park) in Trophy Club. Wise County, Texas
Wise County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 68,632. Its county seat is Decatur. Wise County is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth– Arlington metropolitan statistical area. Its Wise Eyes crime-watch program, eventually adopted by mostly rural counties in several states, was started in 1993 by then-Sheriff Phil Ryan. History On November 10, 1837, the Battle of the Knobs was fought in what is now Wise County between about 150 Native American warriors and 18 Republic of Texas soldiers under Lieutenant A. B. Lake Grapevine
Grapevine Lake is a reservoir in North Texas about northwest of Dallas and northeast of Fort Worth. It was impounded in 1952 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers when they dammed Denton Creek, a tributary of Trinity River. The reservoir's primary purposes are flood control and to act as a municipal water reservoir, with a secondary function of providing recreation and open-space areas. The lake's name comes from the city of Grapevine, Texas, to which the lake is adjacent. Trinity River (Texas)
The Trinity River is a river, the longest with a watershed entirely within the U.S. state of Texas. It rises in extreme northern Texas, a few miles south of the Red River of the South, Red River. The headwaters are separated by the high bluffs on the southern side of the Red River. The Trinity River was previously identified as the stream that the Caddo called Arkikosa in Central Texas and Daycoa nearer the coast. However, in 2022, language preservationists from the Caddo Nation determined their ancestral language lacked the letter “R” sound. Arkikosa was likely a corruption or misspelling of the word Akokisa. Trophy Club, Texas
Trophy Club is a town located primarily in Denton County, Texas, United States (with a very small fraction extending into Tarrant County). It is an affluent suburb of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. When established in the 1970s, it was one of the earliest premier planned communities in Texas, built around the only golf course designed by Ben Hogan. Denton is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Denton County, Texas, Denton County.
