Denti
'' Denti'' (''Teeth'') is a 2000 Italian comedy-drama film directed by Gabriele Salvatores. It is based on the novel with the same name written by Domenico Starnone. It entered the competition at the 57th Venice International Film Festival. Plot Antonio has always had problems with his incisors: enormous and therefore embarrassing. During a quarrel Mara, the woman for whom he left his wife and two children and of whom he is extremely jealous, throws him a crystal ashtray breaking his teeth. He begins his wandering among dentists that will turn into a sort of journey in his own conscience, altered by painkillers, by quarrels with Mara and by memories and ghosts that resurface. Gabriele Salvatores
Gabriele Salvatores (born 30 July 1950) is an Italian Academy Award-winning film director and screenwriter. Biography Born in Naples, Salvatores debuted as a theatre director in 1972, founding in Milan the Teatro dell'Elfo, for which he directed several avant-garde pieces until 1989. In that year, he directed his third feature film, '' Marrakech Express'', which was followed in 1990 by ''Turné''. Both films shared a group of actor-friends, including Diego Abatantuono and Fabrizio Bentivoglio, who will be present in many of his later movies. ''Turné'' was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. Domenico Starnone
Domenico Starnone (born 15 February 1943) is an Italian writer, screenwriter and journalist. Born in Saviano, near Naples, he has worked for several newspapers and satirical magazines, including ''L'Unità'', '' Il Manifesto'', ''Tango'', and ''Cuore'', usually about episodes of his life as a high school teacher. He also works as screenwriter. Movies ''La scuola'', '' The Ties'' (both by Daniele Luchetti), '' Auguri Professore'' (by Riccardo Milani) and ''Denti'' (by Gabriele Salvatores) are based on his books. Sergio Rubini (born 21 December 1959) is an Italian actor, film director and screenwriter. Life and career Rubini was born in Grumo Appula, Apulia, but soon moved to Rome to study acting. After some roles in theater, he debuted in a feature film with ''Figlio mio infinitamente caro'' (1985), which was followed by ''Desiderando Giulia'' and '' Il caso Moro''. Paolo Villaggio
Paolo Villaggio (; 30 December 1932 – 3 July 2017) was an Italian actor, voice actor, writer, director and comedian. He is noted for the characters he created with paradoxical and grotesque characteristics: Professor Kranz, the ultra-timid Giandomenico Fracchia, and the obsequious and meek accountant Ugo Fantozzi, perhaps the favourite character in Italian comedy. Teho Teardo is an Italian musician and composer. He is a founding member of the rock band Meathead. In the 1990s he collaborated with Mick Harris, Jim Coleman and Lydia Lunch. With Scott McCloud ( Girls Against Boys) he started a new project called ''Operator''. Together they released an album titled ''Welcome to the Wonderful World'' in 2003, and toured with Placebo.
