Dennis Lotis
Dennis Lotis (8 March 1925 – 8 February 2023) was a South African-born British singer, actor, and entertainer, whose popularity was greatest in the 1950s. He was described as having "a sophisticated style that was particularly attractive to the young female population". Life and career Lotis was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 8 March 1925. He trained as a boy soprano, and made his first stage appearances and radio broadcasts as a child. After leaving school at the age of 15 he worked as a bus conductor and electrician, as well as singing in clubs and cinemas in Johannesburg. He married and left South Africa with his wife at the start of the 1950s, moving to UK, Britain, where he was introduced to bandleader Ted Heath (bandleader), Ted Heath. He joined the Ted Heath Orchestra, singing alongside Lita Roza and Dickie Valentine. The Johnston Brothers
The Johnston Brothers were a vocal group who had a No. 1 hit in the UK Singles Chart in 1955 with their cover version of " Hernando's Hideaway". The group was formed by Johnny Johnston (born John Harold Johnston, 10 July 1919 – 10 June 1998, London). He had formed a music publishing company, Michael Reine Music, in London in 1946, and was used by the BBC Light Programme radio channel as a singer and arranger. His first big success was to write and perform, with his vocal quartet The Keynotes, the theme to the successful comedy series '' Take It From Here'' in 1948. The Keynotes remained a popular singing group in the United Kingdom throughout the 1950s, winning several awards but having no hit records. ''Sword of Sherwood Forest'' is a 1960 British Technicolor/ MegaScope adventure film directed by Terence Fisher and starring Richard Greene, Peter Cushing, Niall MacGinnis, Nigel Green and Sarah Branch. Greene reprised the role of Robin Hood, which he played in ''The Adventures of Robin Hood'' TV series 1955–1959, and also co-produced the film. It was produced by Sidney Cole and Greene for Hammer Film Productions. The film was shot in both England and Ireland; Don Weeks was Production Manager for the British shoot and Ronald Liles for Ireland.
