Dennis Edlund
Dennis Edlund (born 24 September 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer. Edlund was born in Strängnäs and turned professional in 1988. He played on the European Tour and its official development tour, the Challenge Tour, between 1990 and 2003. He won five times on the Challenge Tour, including twice in 1996, when he won the English Challenge Tour Championship and Rolex Trophy Pro-Am on his way to second place on the tour's end of season rankings. His best finishes on the European Tour were as runner-up at both the 1997 Alamo English Open and the 1998 Standard Life Loch Lomond. Strängnäs
Strängnäs is a locality and the seat of Strängnäs Municipality, Södermanland County, Sweden with 15,363 inhabitants in 2020. It is located by Lake Mälaren and is the episcopal see of the Diocese of Strängnäs, one of the thirteen dioceses of the Church of Sweden. Prominently located on a hilltop, Strängnäs Cathedral, built between 1291 and 1340, is an important landmark. Etymology The city's name is first encountered in 1120, in reference to the Diocese. The name Strängnäs is derived from the fact that the city is located near a strait and on several hills, especially on two major ones, the "Mill Hill" and the "Cathedral Hill". Thomas Bjørn
Thomas Bjørn (born 18 February 1971) is a professional golfer from Denmark who plays on the European Tour. He is the most successful Danish golfer to have played the game having won fifteen tournaments worldwide on the European Tour. In 1997 he also became the first Dane to qualify for a European Ryder Cup team. He captained the winning European side at the 2018 Ryder Cup. Professional career Bjørn started his career playing on the Challenge Tour from 1993 to 1995. In 1995 he won four tournaments on the Challenge Tour to earn his card for his debut year on the European Tour in 1996. 1987 European Amateur Team Championship
The 1987 European Amateur Team Championship took place from 24 to 28 June at Golfclub Murhof, in Frohnleiten, Austria. It was the 15th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Venue The club was founded in 1963 and its course, located 15 kilometers north of Graz in Styria, Austria, was constructed by Dr. Bernhard von Limburger. The championship course was set up with par 72. Format Each team consisted of six players, playing two rounds of an opening stroke-play qualifying competition over two days, counting the five best scores each day for each team. The European Amateur Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for men organised by the European Golf Association which was introduced in 1959. The championship was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). Per-Arne Brostedt
Per-Arne Brostedt (born 9 January 1958) is a Swedish professional golfer, member of the winning Swedish team at the 1986 Europcar Cup, a special event on the European Tour. He was 1984 and 1985 Swedish PGA Champion and won the Swedish Golf Tour Order of Merit in 1985 and 1986. Amateur career 17 years old, Brostedt won the 1975 District Championship in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. Three years later, as an invited amateur, Brostedt finished tied 4th at the professional tournament Flygt Open at his home course Viksjö Golf Club north of Stockholm, in June 1978. Professional career Brostedt turned professional later in 1978 and played on the growing professional golf circuit in Sweden. The Gevalia Open was a golf tournament held at Gävle Golf Club in Gävle, Sweden from 1978. It featured on the Swedish Golf Tour from its inception in 1984 and on the Challenge Tour in 1990 and 1991. The 2000 Challenge Tour was the 12th season of the Challenge Tour, the official development tour to the European Tour. The tour started as the Satellite Tour with its first Order of Merit rankings in 1989 and was officially renamed as the Challenge Tour at the start of the 1990 season. Carl Watts (born 22 August 1971) is an English professional golfer and former European Tour player. He lost a playoff at the 1997 BMW International Open. On the Challenge Tour, he won the 1994 Open Jezequel and the 1996 Russian Open. Amateur career Watts, from Dyke Golf Course in West Sussex, won the 1989 Boys Amateur Championship at Nairn Golf Club, beating Colin Fraser of Scotland, 5 and 3.
