Denmark–Italy relations are the Bilateralism, current and historical relations between Denmark and Italy. Both countries have embassies in their respective capitals and both countries are members of the European Union and NATO. Diplomatic relations were established on 2 September 1861 and relations are described as a "solid bond of friendship and cooperation". Ties between the two countries are based on the common European vocation. The two countries have moreover developed close cultural exchanges since the 1960s. In an extradition, one Jurisdiction (area), jurisdiction delivers a person Suspect, accused or Conviction, convicted of committing a crime in another jurisdiction, into the custody of the other's law enforcement. A legation was a diplomatic representative office of lower rank than an embassy. Where an embassy was headed by an ambassador, a legation was headed by a minister. Ambassadors outranked ministers and had precedence at official events. Legations were originally the most common form of diplomatic mission, but they fell out of favor after World War II and were upgraded to embassies.
