Denkov-Gabriel Government
The Denkov Government was the 102nd cabinet of Bulgaria. It was approved by the parliament on 6 June 2023, and was a majority coalition of GERB and PP–DB. Per the coalition agreement, it was set to be a rotation government, where PP–DB's Nikolai Denkov would start with the premiership, with GERB's Mariya Gabriel serving as deputy prime minister, and after nine months, the two would switch positions. Per the agreement, Denkov and his cabinet resigned on 6 March 2024 in preparation for Gabriel to form her cabinet, although the Denkov government stayed on in a caretaker capacity until a new cabinet was formed. On 20 March 2024, the planned government rotation and signing of a renewed government manifest for the next nine months had failed. Rumen Radev
Rumen Georgiev Radev (, born 18 June 1963) is a Bulgarian politician and former major general who has been the President of Bulgaria since 2017. Radev previously served as higher commander of the Bulgarian Air Force. He won the 2016 Bulgarian presidential election, 2016 presidential election as an Independent politician, independent candidate supported by the Bulgarian Socialist Party, defeating GERB candidate Tsetska Tsacheva in the second round. An independent politician or non-affiliated politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or Bureaucracy, bureaucratic association. There are numerous reasons why someone may stand for office as an independent. Some politicians have political views that do not align with the platforms of any political party and therefore they choose not to affiliate with them. Delyan Dobrev
Delyan Dobrev (born 1978 in Haskovo) is a Bulgarian politician and member of the National Assembly (Bulgaria). He was the Deputy Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Energy under Traycho Traykov, succeeding him as Minister in March 2012 following an energy crisis in the country which included the termination of the Belene Nuclear Power Plant project. Dobrev is in his ninth term as an MP from Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, representing Haskovo region. He has consistently promoted legislation for energy independence. As of July 2023, he is the Chairman of the Committee on Energy in the National Assembly. Dobrev is also a member of the Executive Committee of the GERB party. In November 2023, Dobrev held a lecture at the Atlantic Council in Washington DC, where he outlined the various ways in which Russian influence has permeated politics in Eastern Europe. There Is Such a Peoplesometimes translated as There Is Such A Nation (, ITN) is a populist political party in Bulgaria established by Bulgarian singer, TV host, and politician Slavi Trifonov. Self-described as a "political product", the party is named after one of Trifonov's own musical albums. History Foundation Trifonov originally attempted to found a political party under the name of "There is No Such State" (). June 2024 Bulgarian Parliamentary Election
Early parliamentary elections were held in Bulgaria on 9 June 2024, to elect members of the National Assembly. The election coincided with the European Parliament election on the same day. This parliamentary election was initially scheduled to be held before 12 June 2027; however, the planned rotation agreed to by GERB and PP–DB failed to materialise in March 2024, and no other government could be formed. GERB–SDS had the best results, winning nearly 24% of the vote and 68 seats, but it did not obtain a majority in the National Assembly. Voter turnout was 34%, which was the lowest turnout since the end of communist rule in 1989. The new elected 50th Parliament replaced the 49th Parliament, when all elected members were sworn in on 19 June 2024. The final of three government formation attempts failed on 5 August 2024.
