Denis Welch
Denis Welch (16 March 1945 – 27 July 2014) was a British racing driver and businessman. Denis Welch Motorsport Welch founded ''Denis Welch Motorsport'' in 1976, specialising in parts for Austin-Healey and Jaguar cars. The company remanufactures parts for classic racing cars which would otherwise be impossible to obtain. His son Jeremy took over the company in 2007. Historic racing Welch started racing in 1965. He took motorsport seriously but did not have ambitions to race professionally; he focused on building his engineering company and continued to race on the side. Welch was particularly noted for his red 1959 Austin-Healey 3000, nicknamed ''The Bulldog'' and with registration 6200 NO, which he drove to great success in a flamboyant, oversteering style. He purchased the car in 1979 and fully restored it, going on to win a multitude of races including the Eifel Classic at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and events at Bathurst. The Lotus 18 was a race car designed by Colin Chapman for use by Lotus in Formula Junior, Formula Two, and Formula One. Overview Lotus 18 was the first mid-engined car built by Lotus and was a marked improvement over Chapman's early and only moderately successful front-engined formula cars, the 12 and 16. It was introduced for the 1960 F1, F2 and FJ seasons, with about 27 examples of the F1 and F2 versions and 110 of the FJ versions. As a stop-gap before the introduction of the 18's successor models, the Lotus 20 for F2/FJ and 21 for F1, some 18 chassis were rebodied with 21 skins to create the interim Lotus 18/21 hybrid derivative. The Silverstone Classic is an annual three-day car and race event at the Silverstone Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix. The event features hundreds of historic race cars in circa 20 races over the weekend, displays from over 100 car clubs with more than 10,000 classic cars, free access to the paddocks and grandstands, interactive activities, dynamic demonstrations, live music on Friday and Saturday evenings, a shopping village and lots more. Elva was a sports and racing car manufacturing company based in Bexhill, then Hastings and Rye, East Sussex, United Kingdom. The company was founded in 1955 by Frank G. Nichols. The name comes from the French phrase ''elle va'' ("she goes"). Racing cars Frank Nichols's intention was to build a low-cost sports/racing car, and a series of models were produced between 1954 and 1959. The 2003 Macau Grand Prix (formally the 50th Macau Grand Prix) was a motor race for Formula Three cars that was held on the streets of Macau on 16 November 2003. Unlike other races, such as the Masters of Formula 3, the 2003 Macau Grand Prix was not a part of any Formula Three championship, but was open to entries from all Formula Three championships.
