Denis Matveev
Denis Vladimirovich Matveev (Russian Cyrillic: Денис Владимирович Матвеев; born April 25, 1983, in Leningrad, RSFSR, now St. Petersburg, Russia) is a Russian cosmonaut. Biography Matveev received his degree in computing and networks from the Bauman Moscow State Technical University in 2006. After graduation, Matveev began working at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia as a junior research assistant. He was promoted to engineer in 2009. Matveev was selected as a cosmonaut in 2010. He was appointed to begin training on October 12, 2010, and was named a test cosmonaut on July 31, 2012. The Yuri A. Gagarin State Scientific Research-and-Testing Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC; Russian: Центр подготовки космонавтов имени Ю. А. Гагарина) is a Russian training facility responsible for training cosmonauts for their space missions. It is in Star City of Moscow Oblast, a name which may refer to the facility itself or to its grounds. Formation The facility was originally known only as Military Unit 26266 or в/ч 26266, and was a secret training base for Soviet Cosmonaut candidates. The site was chosen for its proximity to Moscow and other infrastructure that would be essential for its function: Chkalovsky Airport, and the Yaroslavl railroad. Ivan Viktorovich Vagner (born 10 July 1985) is a Russian engineer and cosmonaut who was selected in October 2010. He graduated from the Baltic State Technical University in 2008, before working as an engineer for RKK Energia. He began his first spaceflight in April 2020 as a Flight Engineer on Soyuz MS-16 and Expedition 62/63. Early life and education Vagner was born on 10 July 1985 in the Severoonezhsk village in the Arkhangelsk region of Russia. He attended North-Onega secondary school from 1993 to 2003 before going on to study engineering at Baltic State Technical University.
