Denis Cubis
Denis Cubis is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. He played for North Sydney in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition. Playing career Cubis made his first grade debut for North Sydney in 1962. At the end of the 1962 season, North Sydney finished in second last place on the table above last placed South Sydney. In 1964, North Sydney qualified for the finals after finishing in 4th place. The club were defeated in the semi-final by Balmain at the Sydney Cricket Ground with Cubis missing the game through injury. In 1965, Cubis and Norths enjoyed one of their best seasons. Cubis represented both New South Wales and New South Wales City teams. North Sydney Bears
The North Sydney Bears are an Australian rugby league football club based in Cammeray on Sydney's North Shore (Sydney), North Shore. The club currently competes in the NSW Cup, having exited the National Rugby League following the 1999 NRL season after 90 years in the premier rugby league competition in Australia. At the end of the 1999 season, the club merged with the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles to form the Northern Eagles which only lasted two years and the license was reverted to the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles leaving the Bears without top flight representation. However, in April 2025, a deal to be based in Perth as the Perth Bears was confirmed coming into effect from 2027, thus gaining North Sydney representation in First Grade rugby league for the first time since 2001. New South Wales Rugby League Team
The New South Wales rugby league team has represented the Australian state of New South Wales in rugby league football since the sport's beginnings there in 1907. Also known as the Blues due to their sky blue jerseys, the team competes in the annual State of Origin series against Queensland. The team is currently coached by Laurie Daley and captained by Isaah Yeo, and is administered by the New South Wales Rugby League. City New South Wales Rugby League Team
The Sydney Rugby League team, known as the City Rugby League team, or Sydney Firsts, or Sydney Capitals, is a representative rugby league team. From 2021, the men's team is to consist of players selected from the New South Wales Rugby League Ron Massey Cup competition to play against a combined team selected from Country, New South Wales competitions. The women's team is selected on a region of origin basis from the NSWRL Women's Premiership. The reorganisation in 2021 means the Sydney / City team is selected from a third-tier competition, as the Ron Massey Cup sits below the first-tier National Rugby League and the second-tier New South Wales Cup. Balmain Tigers
The Balmain Tigers (also known as the Sydney Tigers from 1995 to 1996) are a rugby league club based in the inner-western Sydney suburb of Balmain, New South Wales, Balmain. They were a founding member of the New South Wales Rugby League and one of the most successful in the history of the premiership, with eleven titles. In 1999 they formed a joint venture club with the Western Suburbs Magpies club to form the Wests Tigers for competition in the National Rugby League (NRL).
