Den Haag Vandaag
''NOVA'' was a late-evening current affairs programme, initially co-produced by VARA and NOS, and latterly by VARA and NPS, alongside ''Den Haag Vandaag'' ("The Hague Today"), the segment of the programme covering events in parliament and interviews with politicians, which was produced by the NOS. It was broadcast as ''NOVA/Den Haag Vandaag'' from Monday to Saturday, on Nederland 3 from 1992 to 2006, and from 2006 to 2010 on Nederland 2. The programme was also broadcast on the Dutch language international channel, BVN. History NOVA was first broadcast on 28 September 1992 on Nederland 3, as a result of the merger of two programmes: ''NOS-Laat'', produced by the NOS, and ''Achter het Nieuws'', produced by VARA. The name of the programme, ''NOVA'', was chosen as a portmanteau of the names of NOS and VARA, with the extra result of it being Latin for "new". Current Affairs (news Format)
Current affairs is a genre of broadcast journalism in which major news stories are discussed at length in a timely manner. This differs from regular news broadcasts that place emphasis on news reports presented for simple presentation as soon as possible, often with a minimum of analysis. It is also different from the news magazine show format in that the events are discussed immediately. The UK's BBC programmes such as ''This World'', ''Panorama'', '' Real Story'', '' BBC Scotland Investigates'', '' Spotlight'', '' Week In Week Out'', and ''Inside Out'' fit the definition. NPO 1 (''NPO een'', formerly Nederland 1 until 2014) is the first national television station in the Netherlands. It launched on 2 October 1951. Matthijs van Nieuwkerk (; born 8 September 1960) is a Dutch journalist and television presenter. He is best known for hosting the daily '' De Wereld Draait Door'' (DWDD) television show from 2005 to 2020. Biography Matthijs van Nieuwkerk was born in Amsterdam.
