Demo Beriša
Demo Beriša ( sr-cyr, Демо Бериша, ; born 17 April 1963) is a Serbian retired military officer serving as the minister of human and minority rights and social dialogue since 16 April 2025. An ethnic Kosovo Albanian, he opposes the recognition of Kosovo. Early life and career Beriša was born in 1963 in a Kosovo Albanian family in Peć, SAP Kosovo, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia. He graduated from a military school in Sarajevo and later continued his studies in Novi Sad, where he earned a degree in economics. He served as an officer in the military police branch of the Yugoslav People's Army and the Serbian Army, retiring in 2005. Since 2014, Beriša has served as the president of the Matica of Albanians. The Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue of the Republic of Serbia () is the Ministry (government department), ministry in the Government of Serbia which is in charge of human and minority rights. A Matica or Matice or Matitsa or Matka is a Slavic concept of a foundation which promotes national culture and gained prominence during the 19th-century romantic nationalism. Hatidža Beriša
Hatidža Beriša (, ; born 1961) is a Serbian university professor and military officer. Biography She was born in 1961 to a pro-Serbian Kosovo Albanian family in Klina, AR Kosovo and Metohija, PR Serbia, FPR Yugoslavia. Her father Halil fought as a soldier of the Royal Yugoslav Army and was captured by the German Army and held in German prison camps. She received her doctorate from the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Belgrade with the thesis ''Political Violence in Kosovo and Metohija from 1945 to 2003''. Her brother Izet, a member of the special police unit, was killed in combat against Croatian forces in the Battle of Vukovar, on the last day of the battle. During that time, Beriša was a military officer stationed in Đakovica. Her partner, a military pilot, died in combat in 1993. Shaip Kamberi ( ''Šaip Kamberi''; born 15 October 1964) is a Serbian politician. An ethnic Albanian, he has led the Party for Democratic Action since 2018, and has been an MP since 2020, a role he previously held between 2014 and 2016. The cabinet of Đuro Macut was formed on 16 April 2025, following the latter's election as Prime Minister of Serbia by the National Assembly (Serbia), National Assembly on the same day. 2024–present Serbian Anti-corruption Protests
In November 2024, mass protests erupted in Novi Sad after the Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse, collapse of the city's railway station canopy, which killed 16 people and left one severely injured. By March 2025, the protests had spread to 400 cities and towns across Serbia and were ongoing. Led by university students, the protests call for accountability for the disaster. The protests began with student-led blockades of educational institutions, starting on 22 November at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts after students were attacked during a silent tribute to the victims of the 1 November collapse. Aleksandar Vučić, (born 5 March 1970) is a Serbian politician serving as President of Serbia since 2017.
