Demion Clinco
Demion Clinco is an American politician, historic preservationist, philanthropist, and business leader from the state of Arizona. Clinco's social innovation included reestablishing the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation in 2008 and launching Tucson Modernism Week in 2012 and work in the higher-education sector. A member of the Democratic Party, Clinco served in the Arizona House of Representatives, as a member for the second district until 2015. In December 2015 Clinco was appointed to the Governing Board of Pima Community College. Clinco was elected in 2016 to serve a full term and in January 2018 was elected chairman of the college's Governing Board. Under Clinco's leadership the college initiated large-scale bond projects focusing on workforce development and career technical education. Arizona's 2nd Legislative District
Arizona's 2nd Legislative District is one of 30 in the state, consisting of all of Santa Cruz County, along with a section of Pima County. As of 2020 there are 57 precincts in the district, 33 in Pima and 24 in Santa Cruz, with a total registered voter population of 119,080. The district has an overall population of 211,905. Bob Walkup
Robert E. Walkup (November 14, 1936 – March 12, 2021) was an American politician who served as the 40th mayor of Tucson from 1999 to 2011. Early life and career Walkup was born in Ames, Iowa, on November 14, 1936. His father was a professor of engineering at Iowa State University. He obtained a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Iowa State University, before serving in the US Army Corps of Engineers. Upon his return from military service, he worked in the aerospace industry for 35 years. He was employed by Rockwell International, Fairchild Republic, and Hughes Aircraft Company. While working at Rockwell International, Fairchild Republic, he oversaw the production of the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II. He also served as the chairman of the Tucson Economic Council. The Gregory School
The Gregory School is an independent, private, non-sectarian, coed middle and high school in Tucson, Arizona, United States. The school has no religious affiliation. As of 2015, the Gregory School offers grades 5–12 and has 350 students with an average class size of 14 students per class. The school's 37-acre campus in central Tucson includes a 370-seat theater, science and technology center, basketball and volleyball gymnasium, band room, soccer and baseball/softball fields, a state of the art fabrication lab, student lounges, and a dining hall. Hirsh's Shoes, is a Mid-Century modern store building located in Tucson, Arizona, United States. Designed in 1954 by Jewish-American architect Bernard "Bernie" Friedman for entrepreneur Rose Hirsh, the open plan storefront is an iconic retail standard. Mrs. Rose C. (David) Hirsh hired Friedman to design this building as a free standing shop in what would become an early strip mall. Though now surrounded by other buildings, it was owned and operated by the Hirsh Family from its construction in 1954 until 2016. The opening of the store was featured in the Arizona Daily Star on April 7, 1954 and for 62 years the Hirsh Family maintained the character-defining architectural features of the north facade and unique architectural expression that defined the mid-century era.
