DemiRep (Bikini Kill Song)
Bikini Kill is an American punk rock band formed in Olympia, Washington, in October 1990. The group originally consisted of singer and songwriter Kathleen Hanna, guitarist Billy Karren, bassist Kathi Wilcox, and drummer Tobi Vail. The band pioneered the riot grrrl movement, with feminist lyrics and fiery performances. Their music is characteristically abrasive and hardcore-influenced. After two full-length albums, several EPs and two compilations, they disbanded in 1997. The band reunited for tours in 2019 and 2022, with Erica Dawn Lyle on guitar in place of Karren. Fugazi (; ) is an American post-hardcore band formed in Washington, D.C., in 1986. The band consists of guitarists and vocalists Ian MacKaye and Guy Picciotto, bassist Joe Lally, and drummer Brendan Canty. Minor Threat
Minor Threat was an American hardcore punk band, formed in 1980 in Washington, D.C., by vocalist Ian MacKaye and drummer Jeff Nelson. MacKaye and Nelson had played in several other bands together, and recruited bassist Brian Baker and guitarist Lyle Preslar to form Minor Threat. They added a fifth member, Steve Hansgen, in 1982, playing bass, while Baker switched to second guitar. The band was relatively short-lived, disbanding after only three years together, but had a strong influence in the emerging American hardcore punk scene, both stylistically and in helping to further establish the "do it yourself" ethic for music distribution and concert promotion. Minor Threat's song " Straight Edge" was the basis of the straight edge movement, which emphasized a lifestyle without alcohol or other drugs, or promiscuous sex. Ian Thomas Garner MacKaye (; born April 16, 1962) is an American musician. Active since 1979, he is best known as the co-founder and owner of Dischord Records, a Washington, D.C.–based independent record label, and the frontman of hardcore punk band Minor Threat and post-hardcore band Fugazi. MacKaye was also the bassist for the short-lived band the Teen Idles, and frontman for Embrace (American band), Embrace, and Pailhead, a collaboration with the band Ministry (band), Ministry. Bikini Kill (EP)
''Bikini Kill'' is the first extended play, EP by the American punk rock band Bikini Kill led by singer Kathleen Hanna. The six-song Vinyl record, vinyl Extended play, EP was released in 1992 on Kill Rock Stars. It was produced by Fugazi's Ian MacKaye. In 1994, the EP was released on CD together with the ''Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah'' EP under the name ''The CD Version of the First Two Records''. In November 2012, Hanna founded Bikini Kill Records with the intention of reissuing Bikini Kill's discography, explaining that Bikini Kill felt their relationship with Kill Rock Stars had stagnated following several years without releasing any new material. Hanna also remarked that "There's a kind of 90's revival [of feminism]" at the time that Bikini Kill decided to reissue their older releases. Revolution Girl Style Now
''Revolution Girl Style Now'' is a demo album by the punk rock band Bikini Kill. It was self-released in cassette form in 1991 and recorded at Yoyo Studios. The 1991 cassette was released for the first time on vinyl, CD and digital formats in 2015 via the band's own label, Bikini Kill Records. The reissue includes three previously unreleased tracks: "Ocean Song", "Just Once", and "Playground". The album has most recently been reissued on red vinyl in a "Limited edition 30th anniversary pressing on red vinyl" via Bikini Kill Records. The name of the album was a slogan that Bikini Kill used along with "Stop the J-Word Jealousy from Killing Girl Love".
