Demarest–Bloomer–Hart House
The Demarest–Bloomer–Hart House, also known as the Demarest–Bloomer House, is located at 147 River Edge Avenue in the borough of New Milford in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The historic Greek Revival house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 7, 1985, for its significance in architecture. With History and description According to the nomination form, the two and one-half story frame house was built around 1800 by a member of the Demarest family. The front facade is brick laid in Flemish bond. In 1864, George C. Demarest sold the house to George Bloomer. In 1934, the house was sold to Harry C. Homburg. In 1946, it was sold to F. Bruce Hart. Greek Revival
The Greek Revival was an architectural movement which began in the middle of the 18th century but which particularly flourished in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, predominantly in northern Europe and the United States and Canada, but also in Greece itself following independence in 1832. It revived many aspects of the forms and styles of ancient Greek architecture, in particular the Greek temple, with varying degrees of thoroughness and consistency. A product of Hellenism, it may be looked upon as the last phase in the development of Neoclassical architecture, which had for long mainly drawn from Roman architecture. The Historical Marker Database (HMdb.org) is an online database that documents locations of numerous historical markers in the United States as well as other countries. The database was launched in 2006 by computer programmer J. J. Prats. The HMdb served as the basis for the database for the online augmented reality game Ingress, which was then later repurposed for Pokémon Go. The HMdb was launched in 2006 with 179 markers that Prats had personally documented. By 2015 the site listed more than 74,000 markers.
