''Delta Dawn'' is the debut studio album by American country music singer Tanya Tucker. It was released on September 11, 1972, by Columbia Records. The album was produced by Billy Sherrill and includes two top ten singles, "Delta Dawn" and " Love's the Answer"/"The Jamestown Ferry". Critical reception The review published in the September 23, 1972, issue of '' Cashbox'' said, "We've already seen Tanya Tucker breeze up the country and pop singles charts with "Delta Dawn", establishing herself as country music's first thirteen-year-old superstar. Now this album will establish her versatility, a talent necessary for longevity, since even thirteen-year-olds grow up someday. Tanya Tucker won't always be a child star, but if this album is an indication, she'll always be a star." The review also noted "Soul Song", "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", and "Love's the Answer" as the best cuts on the album. Tanya Tucker
Tanya Denise Tucker (born October 10, 1958) is an American country music singer and songwriter who had her first hit, "Delta Dawn", in 1972 at the age of 13. Linda Hargrove
Linda Hargrove (married name Bartholomew, born Tallahassee, Florida February 3, 1949 – October 24, 2010, Tallahassee, Florida) was an American rock/country songwriter and musician. Linda had her first success in songwriting when she was 17 and co-wrote two songs with a friend. A Tallahassee band, the Other Side, decided to record the songs and they were hits on her hometown’s local radio station. In 1969, Linda’s brother, Lee Hargrove, was working with another local band, After All (see 1969 in music) that used poems Linda wrote set to the band’s music. George Richey
George Richey (born George Baker Richardson; November 30, 1935 – July 31, 2010) was an American songwriter and record producer. He was born in Arkansas, but raised in Malden, Missouri. Career Richey was a mainstay of the Nashville country music community since the 1960s through his songwriting and record production. In the 1970s, he co-wrote " Keep Me in Mind," a No. 1 country hit for Lynn Anderson in 1973. He also co-wrote hits for future wife Tammy Wynette and Wynette's then-husband, George Jones, including Jones's " A Picture of Me (Without You)" and "The Grand Tour," and Wynette's " 'Til I Can Make It On My Own" and " You and Me", among many other artists. "Loving You Could Never Be Better" is a song written by Earl Montgomery, Charlene Montgomery and Betty Tate, and recorded by American country music artist George Jones. Robert Jerome "Bobby" Borchers (born June 19, 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American country music singer. Borchers was raised in Kentucky. He learned to play guitar at age twelve, and got his first break in the mid-1970s, when Tanya Tucker recorded his song "Jamestown Ferry." In the mid-1970s, recorded for the Playboy Records label. Borchers released two albums for Playboy: ''Bobby Borchers'' in 1977 and ''Denim and Rhinestones'' a year later. He also charted nine times within the Top 40 of the Hot Country Songs charts, including the number seven "Cheap Perfume and Candlelight" in 1977. Mack Vickery (June 8, 1938 – December 21, 2004), also known as Atlanta James and Vick Vickers, was an American musician, songwriter, and inductee in the Hillbilly Hall of Fame and Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
