Delmita, Texas
Delmita is a census-designated place in Starr County, Texas, United States. Its elevation is 272 feet (83 m). Although Delmita is unincorporated, it has a post office, with the ZIP code of 78536. This CDP was new for the 2010 census with a population of 216. It was founded as Zaragosa in 1919. The community's name was changed to Delmita on April 1, 1931 because of confusion with the Reeves County community of Saragosa. The community's first post office was established soon after the community, and a new post office was constructed in 1991. Delmita's importance has declined through the years; in 1940, it was the most important community in the northeastern part of the county, but it has since been overshadowed by San Isidro. San Isidro is a census-designated place (CDP) in Starr County, Texas, United States. The population was 240 at the 2010 census. The town is named for St. Isidore the Laborer, the patron saint of farmers. A large Southwestern Barrel Cactus growing just east of town is said to be the largest in Texas. Geography San Isidro is located at (26.718830, -98.444126). The CDP lost a little area prior to the 2010 census, making the total area of 3.1 square miles (8.0 km), all land. Saragosa, Texas
Saragosa is a small town in Reeves County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had an estimated population of 185 in 2000. Saragosa has a post office with the ZIP code 79780. Geography Saragosa is situated at the junction of State Highway 17 and FM 1215, approximately two miles north of Interstate 10 in southeastern Reeves County. History The community was first settled in 1880 when fifteen families established themselves along Toyah Creek. Antonio Matta built his horse ranch headquarters in the area. A post office opened in 1884, but closed in 1891. The post office was reestablished in 1900. In 1909, the plat for Saragosa was filed at the Reeves County courthouse. Reeves County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 14,748. Its county seat and most populous city is Pecos.
