Delfín Jaranilla
Delfín Jaranilla y Jebución (December 24, 1883 – June 4, 1980) was a Filipino judge. He served as the Attorney General#Philippines, Attorney General of the Philippines from 1927 to 1932, as part of the American colonial Insular Government. He was named Judge Advocate General and after the Philippines campaign (1941–1942), Japanese conquest of the Philippines was forced on the Bataan Death March. He served as Secretary of Justice, Agriculture, and Commerce in 1945. After holding the position of Secretary of Justice, he was appointed the 44th Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines. After the conclusion of World War II, he was selected to serve as a Justice of the Philippines on the International Military Tribunal for the Far East. The Bataan Death March was the Death march, forcible transfer by the Imperial Japanese Army of around 72,000 to 78,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war (POWs) from the municipalities of Bagac and Mariveles on the Bataan Peninsula to Camp O'Donnell via San Fernando, Pampanga, San Fernando. The transfer began on April 9, 1942, after the three-month Battle of Bataan in the Philippines during World War II. The total distance marched from Mariveles to San Fernando and from the Capas Train Station to various camps was . Sources also report widely differing prisoner of war casualties prior to reaching Camp O'Donnell: from 5,000 to 18,000 Filipino deaths and 500 to 650 American deaths during the march.
