Delane C. Kritsky
Delane C. Kritsky is an American parasitologist who specialised on the Monogenea, a class of parasitic flatworms which are important ectoparasites of fishes. His research was mainly in the fields of taxonomy, faunistics, and phylogeny of the Monogenea. He is one of the most prolific author in the field of systematics of Monogenea, with hundreds of species described, and has co-authored a major, highly cited revision of the Monogenea in 1993. Career Delane C. Kritsky earned his PhD degree in zoology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1971. He had his whole career in Idaho State University where he began in 1974 as an assistant professor, and became a full professor in 1983. He has been an administrator for much of his career: from 1979 to 1989 he was the chair of the Department of Allied Health Professions, was acting dean in 1985–1986, and associate dean from 1989 until his retirement. Digenea
Digenea (Gr. ''Dis'' – double, ''Genos'' – race) is a class of trematodes in the Platyhelminthes phylum, consisting of parasitic flatworms (known as ''flukes'') with a syncytial tegument and, usually, two suckers, one ventral and one oral. Adults commonly live within the digestive tract, but occur throughout the organ systems of all classes of vertebrates. Once thought to be related to the Monogenea, it is now recognised that they are closest to the Aspidogastrea and that the Monogenea are more closely allied with the Cestoda. Around 6,000 species have been described to date. ''Pseudorhabdosynochus kritskyi'' is a diplectanid monogenean parasitic on the gills of the gag, ''Mycteroperca microlepis''. The species has been described by Dyer, Williams and Bunkley-Williams in 1995 and redescribed successively by Yang, Gibson and Zeng in 2005 and by Kritsky, Bakenhaster and Adams in 2015. ''Dactylogyrus'' is a genus of monogeneans in the Dactylogyridae family. Like other monogeneans, species of ''Dactylogyrus'' only have one host required to complete their life cycle. Introduction Members of ''Dactylogyrus'' (common name: Gill Fluke) are oviparous (egg-laying) monogeneans trematodes that have two pairs of anchors. These anchors can be used to latch onto the gills of a host, particularly freshwater fish such as carp. In heavily infected fish, ''Dactylogyrus'' can also be found on the buccal cavity, and at times fins and skin of the freshwater fish. Species ''Dactylogyrus'' is one of the most speciose genus of helminths, with more than 900 species described. Susan Lim (parasitologist)
Lee Hong Susan Lim (February 14, 1952 – August 2, 2014), more commonly known as Susan Lim, was a Malaysian parasitologist who specialised on the Monogenea, a class of parasitic flatworms which are important ectoparasites of fishes. She was the first and only Malaysian commissioner elected to the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature. Her research was mainly in the fields of taxonomy and faunistics, although in later years, she became involved in a wide range of parasitological disciplines. She has been considered the leading monogenean specialist in South-East Asia. By describing more than 100 new species and reassigning more than 100 others, she became the sixth most productive monogenean worker (and foremost female worker) of all time. She is also noted for describing an entirely new attachment mechanism in the form of net-like structures formed by secretions from the haptor of some of her worms. Kritskyia
''Kritskyia'' is a genus of monogeneans in the family Dactylogyridae. Like other monogeneans, species of ''Kritskyia'' only have one host required to complete their life cycle. In contrast to most species of monogeneans which are parasitic on the gills or on the skin of fish, species of ''Kritskyia'' are parasitic in the urinary organs of fish. The genus was created by Anna Kohn in 1990, and the definition of the genus was emended by Boeger, Tanaka and Pavanelli in 2001. The name of the genus honours the American parasitologist Delane C.
