Defence Construction Canada
Defence Construction Canada (DCC; ) is a Crown corporation owned by the Government of Canada. DCC was created in 1951 to help build massive defence infrastructure during the Cold War. It was notably involved in building the Distant Early Warning Line, and is now involved in decommissioning it. It also became involved in building Expo 67 and the TransCanada pipeline. Until the 1990s, its services focused on the traditional areas of construction and construction contract management. In the last decade, it has expanded these offerings to include environmental, commissioning and facilities management services. Distant Early Warning Line
The Distant Early Warning Line, also known as the DEW Line or Early Warning Line, was a system of radar stations in the northern Arctic region of Canada, with additional stations along the north coast and Aleutian Islands of Alaska (see List of White Alice Communications System sites#Project Stretchout sites, Project Stretchout and List of White Alice Communications System sites#Project Bluegrass sites, Project Bluegrass), in addition to the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Iceland. The 1967 International and Universal Exposition, commonly known as Expo 67, was a general exhibition from April 28 to October 29, 1967. It was a category one world's fair held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is considered to be one of the most successful World's Fairs of the 20th century with the most attendees to that date and 62 nations participating. It also set the single-day attendance record for a world's fair, with 569,500 visitors on its third day. Expo 67 was Canada's main celebration during its Canadian Centennial, centennial year. TransCanada Pipeline
The TransCanada pipeline is a system of natural gas pipelines, up to in diameter, that carries gas through Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. It is maintained by TransCanada PipeLines, LP. It is the longest pipeline in Canada. Creation Canada's population was booming during the 1950s, and energy shortages were becoming problematic.
