Declan Recks is an IFTA Award-winning television and film director from Clara, County Offaly. He directed the Irish language film ''Tarrac'' in 2023. Education Recks graduated from the Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland. Career In 1990, Recks founded Paradox Productions with Liam O'Niell. He sits the board of the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland (SDGI) and is a member of the European Film Academy. The Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF; ) is an annual film festival that has been held in Dublin, Ireland, since 2003. History The Dublin International Film Festival was established in 2003. It was revived by Michael Dwyer (journalist), Michael Dwyer, international film critic and ''The Irish Times'' chief film correspondent, along with David McLoughlin, film producer. (The original Dublin Film Festival was founded in 1985 by Dwyer and journalist and broadcaster Myles Dungan.) McLoughlin joined while still an undergraduate in Trinity College Dublin. The festival was established to present an opportunity for Dublin's cinema-going audiences to experience the best in Irish and international cinema. The ''Offaly Independent'' is a newspaper that covers Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland and the surrounding area. It is published by Celtic Media Group. History The ''Offaly Independent'' was first printed in 1894 as the ''Tullamore & King's Co. Independent'' intended to serve King's County (later renamed County Offaly). The ''Tullamore & King's Co. Patrick Shortt (born 12 December 1967) is an Irish actor, comedian, writer, and entertainer. His role in the 2007 film ''Garage'' led to him receiving the IFTA for Best Actor. He is most notably remembered for his role as Tom in the television series ''Father Ted''. Career Shortt toured alongside Jon Kenny as the comedy duo D'Unbelievables. They released "One Hell of a Video", "D'Unbelievables", "D'Video" (a live random sketch show), "D'Telly" (featuring Shortt and Kenny playing various characters – primarily two brothers who run a shop together), "D'Mother" (in which Kenny's character oversaw the running of a public house alongside his "mother" – who was later revealed to be his father, in a role played by Shortt) and "D'collection".
