''December Heat'' () is a 2008 historic action drama film about the 1924 Estonian coup d'état attempt directed by Asko Kase and starring Sergo Vares and Liisi Koikson. Plot "December 1924. 1924 Estonian Coup D'état Attempt
The 1924 Estonian coup d'état attempt was a failed coup d'état, coup attempt in Estonia on 1 December 1924, conducted by the Comintern,Estonia and the Estonians, Hoover Institution Press, p.15 and staged by the Communist Party of Estonia and Bolsheviks who in most part had been infiltrated from the Soviet Union. Of the 279 actively participating pro-communist rebels, 125 were killed in action, later more than 500 people were arrested. The Estonian government forces lost 26 men. Background The Communist Party of Estonia had affiliated with the Comintern in 1920, and it continued underground activities in Estonia with strong Soviet Russian backing. The incapacity and death of Vladimir Lenin (January 21, 1924) triggered a struggle for power between Leon Trotsky and Joseph Stalin. Otto Kuusinen
Otto Wilhelm "Wille" Kuusinen (; ; 4 October 1881 – 17 May 1964) was a Finnish-born Soviet politician, literary historian, and poet. After the defeat of the Reds in the Finnish Civil War, he fled to the Soviet Union, where he worked until his death. He briefly led the Finnish Democratic Republic before serving as Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Karelo-Finnish SSR. Early life and education Kuusinen was born on 4 October 1881, to the family of village tailor Wilhelm Juhonpoika Kuusinen in Laukaa, Grand Duchy of Finland, Russian Empire. Johan Unt
Johan Unt (24 March 1876 Tarvastu Parish – 7 April 1930 Tallinn) was an Estonian military officer.Eesti entsüklopeedia 14: Eesti elulood. Eesti Entsüklopeediakirjastus, 2000. Page 568 In 1901, he graduated from Vilnius Military School. He participated in World War I as part of the Russian Imperial Army. In 1918, during the German occupation, he organized the illegal Estonian Defence League. He participated in the Estonian War of Independence. In 1919–1920, he was the head of the Estonian Defence League. In 1920–1930, he was the commander of the Tallinn Garrison. On April 4, 1930, an unknown person shot Unt in the back on Kreutzwaldi Street in Tallinn. Unt died from the injuries received at the Tallinn Defence Forces Central Hospital. Priit Pedajas (born 21 January 1954) is an Estonian actor and theatre director. Biography Pedajas was born 21 January 1954 in Tallinn. Tiit Sukk (born 21 November 1974) is an Estonian stage, television, voice, and film actor, director and television presenter. Jaan Anvelt
Jaan Anvelt (also known by the pseudonyms Eessaare Aadu, Jaan Holm, Jaan Hulmu, Kaarel Maatamees, Onkel Kaak; in Russian or ; 18 April 1884 – 11 December 1937), was an Estonian Bolshevik revolutionary and writer. He served the Russian SFSR, was a leader of the Communist Party of Estonia, the first premier of the Soviet Executive Committee of Estonia, and the chairman of the Council of the Commune of the Working People of Estonia (Estonian: ''Eesti Töörahva Kommuun'').
