Deceit Dancer (foaled 1982 in Ontario) is a Canadian Champion filly Thoroughbred racehorse. Background Bred by E. P. Taylor, owner of her sire, Vice Regent, and her dam, Deceit, Deceit Dancer was purchased by Kleinburg, Ontario racing stable owner Bahnam K. Yousif. Deceit Dancer was conditioned for racing by future Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame trainer Gil Rowntree from a base of Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Racing career In 1984, the two-year-old Deceit Dancer won five of her six starts including three stakes wins. Racing for her owner's ''nom de course'', B.K.Y. Stables, she won the My Dear. For new owner, Prime Minister Maktoum Al Maktoum of the United Arab Emirates, who reportedly paid $1 million for her, she won the Fanfreluche and Glorious Song Stakes. Vice Regent
Vice Regent (April 29, 1967 – June 18, 1995) was a Canadian Hall of Fame Thoroughbred racehorse and Canada's leading sire for thirteen years. Owned and bred by E. P. Taylor, he was from Northern Dancer's second crop and out of the mare Victoria Regina, a daughter of the French multiple stakes winner Menetrier whom E. P. Taylor purchased as a sire from François Dupré and imported to Canada. Vice Regent was a full brother to Viceregal who earned Canadian Horse of the Year honours as a two-year-old in 1968. As such, on his debut one year later in 1969, much was expected from Vice Regent. Conditioned by future Hall of Fame trainer Gordon J. McCann, as a result of injuries and an accident, Vice Regent raced only five times before being forced into retirement. The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Although the word ''thoroughbred'' is sometimes used to refer to any breed of purebred horse, it technically refers only to the Thoroughbred breed. The Woodbine Oaks is a Canadian Thoroughbred horse race run annually at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario. Inaugurated in 1956, it is the premier event for Canadian-foaled three-year-old fillies and the first leg of the Canadian Triple Tiara series. Woodbine Racetrack
Woodbine Racetrack is a race track for Thoroughbred horse racing in the Etobicoke area of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Owned by Woodbine Entertainment Group, Woodbine Racetrack manages and hosts Canada's most famous race, the King's Plate. The track was opened in 1956 with a one-mile oval dirt track, as well as a seven-eights turf course. It has been extensively remodeled since 1993, and since 1994 has had three racecourses.
