Decadência (minissérie)
Decadência is a 1995 Brazilian miniseries produced and displayed by Rede Globo between September 5 and September 22, 1995, in a total of 12 chapters. Written by Dias Gomes, it was freely inspired by a novel of the author himself, it counted in general direction and supervision of Roberto Farias and Ignácio Coqueiro. The main characters are played by Edson Celulari and Adriana Esteves. Plot The miniseries shows the decline of a conservative and once-powerful Carioca family, the Tavares Branco, in the period from 1984 to 1992. Following the death of Tancredo Neves to the election and downfall of President Fernando Collor, the Tavares Branco are failing and revealing their moral and financial problems. The plot begins in 1970 with the judge Tavares Branco accepting a priest's request to raise an orphan boy, Mariel, who stays under the care of maid Jandira. Dias Gomes
Alfredo de Freitas Dias Gomes () (19 October 1922 – 18 May 1999) was a Brazilian playwright. He was born on October 19, 1922, in Salvador, Bahia. He started writing plays at age 15 and later wrote soap operas. He wrote the first ever colored soap opera for Brazilian television, and the one with the highest rating of all time. He also wrote numerous Brazilian TV shows, miniseries, and a few movies. Based on his story, the 1962 Brazilian film O Pagador de Promessas (English: Keeper of Promises) was the first ever Brazilian movie to be nominated for an Oscar, and the only South American to ever win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1950 he married Brazilian telenovelist Janete Clair and in their 33 years of marriage they had three children. She died in 1983 and six years later he remarried, to Bernadeth Lyzio. The neo-charismatic (also known as third-wave charismatic or hypercharismatic) movement is a movement within evangelical Protestant Christianity that is composed of a diverse range of independent churches and organizations that emphasize the current availability of gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and faith healing. Ricardo Barbosa Blat (born 16 November 1950) is a Brazilian actor. Biography Blat was born on 16 November 1950 in Ferraz de Vasconcelos. He began his theatre in career at the Teatro Experimental Mogiano (TEM) in the 1960s. Isadora Ribeiro de Sousa (Curitiba, 13 June 1965) is a Brazilian TV actress. Biography Brunette, with indigenous features, and dark brown hair.
