Deborah Boliver Boehm
Deborah Boliver Boehm is a journalist, travel writer, editor and the former editor of Eastwest magazine. She also works as a translator. Boehm moved to Japan to attend college in Kyoto in 1970. She was a student of Japanese language and culture and wanted to continue her education. She writes horror and supernatural based in Japanese folklore while she is the translator for Kenzaburō Ōe, the winner of the 1994 Nobel Prize for Literature. She also translates for Mariko Koike who writes detective and horror fiction. Japan

Kyoto
Kyoto (; Japanese: , ''Kyōto'' ), officially , is the capital city of Kyoto Prefecture in Japan. Kenzaburō Ōe
is a Japanese writer and a major figure in contemporary Japanese literature. His novels, short stories and essays, strongly influenced by French and American literature and literary theory, deal with political, social and philosophical issues, including nuclear weapons, nuclear power, social non-conformism, and existentialism. Ōe was awarded the 1994 Nobel Prize in Literature for creating "an imagined world, where life and myth condense to form a disconcerting picture of the human predicament today". He later identified these child figures as belonging to the ' child god' archetype of Jung and Kerényi, which is characterised by abandonment, hermaphrodism, invincibility, and association with beginning and end. Mariko Koike
is a Japanese novelist. Biography Mariko Koike is a popular detective and horror novelist. Koike was born in Tokyo and graduated from Seikei University. Her first collection of essays was ''Recommendations to Women of the World'' and it became a bestseller. She has been a novelist since her novel came out in 1986. Several of her novels have been translated in to English by Deborah Boliver Boehm. She lived with her husband writer Yoshinaga Fujita until his death on 30 January 2020. They lived in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture.
