Alexis Argüello
Alexis Argüello (April 19, 1952 – July 1, 2009) was a Nicaraguan professional boxer who competed from 1968 to 1995, and later became a politician. He was a List of boxing triple champions, three-weight world champion, having held the World Boxing Association, WBA featherweight title from 1974 to 1976; the World Boxing Council, WBC super featherweight title from 1978 to 1980; and the WBC lightweight title from 1981 to 1982. Additionally, he held the The Ring (magazine), ''Ring'' magazine and lineal championship, lineal featherweight titles from 1975 to 1977; the ''Ring'' lightweight title from 1981 to 1982; and the lineal lightweight title in 1982. Norman Welton
Norman Welton (1928 – July 1, 2009) was an American journalist. Welton worked for the Associated Press for 44 years. He was the photo editor for 31 years. Welton joined the Associated Press in 1946 as a part-time messenger and worked his way up until he reached senior photo editor in 1961. During his time he covered four Olympic Games and several events at the United Nations. He retired in 1992. Martin Hengel (14 December 1926 – 2 July 2009) was a German historian of religion, focusing on the "Second Temple Period" or "Hellenistic Period" of early Judaism and Christianity. Biography Hengel was born in Reutlingen, south of Stuttgart, in 1926 and grew up in nearby Aalen. In 1943 he was conscripted as a 17-year-old schoolboy into the ''Wehrmacht'' and served in an anti-aircraft battery on the Western Front. Susan Fernandez Magno (August 3, 1956 – July 2, 2009) was a Filipina singer, activist and academic. She was known for her protest music, especially at the height of the authoritarian regime of Ferdinand Marcos. Biography An alumna of the University of the Philippines, where she earned a degree in A.B. Pasquale Borgomeo
Pasquale Borgomeo (20 March 1933 in Naples – 2 July 2009 in Rome, Italy) was an Italian Jesuit priest and longtime director of the Vatican Radio. Borgomeo entered the Society of Jesus at the young age of 15 (3 October 1948). After the usual noviciate spiritual training, and the traditional Jesuit formation he is ordained priest on 7 July 1963. He is then sent to Paris where he obtains a doctorate in Patristics at the Sorbonne University, with a thesis on the ''Pastoral Ecclesiology of Saint Augustin'', under the direction of Henri-Irénée Marrou. Though thus prepared to be a professor of Theology circumstances led Borgomeo to be sent to work on the staff of Vatican Radio (in 1970).
