Death Of William DaShawn Hamilton
On February 26, 1999, a cemetery worker in DeKalb County, Georgia, DeKalb County, Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia discovered the skeleton of a male child in a wooded area near a church cemetery. The child remained Unidentified decedent, unidentified until June 2022 when he was identified as 6-year-old William DaShawn Hamilton. His mother, Teresa Ann Bailey Black, was arrested and charged with Murder in Georgia (U.S. state) law#Felony murder, murder, Child abuse, child cruelty, aggravated assault, and Disposal of human corpses#Criminal disposal, concealing his death. In January 2024, Teresa Black was found guilty of concealing William's death, but not guilty of all other charges. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison, the maximum sentence allowed under Georgia law.
