''Death for Life'' is the fourth studio album by American hardcore punk band Death by Stereo, released on June 7, 2005. This release is much heavier than any of Death By Stereo's previous work, but it also includes the first ever ballad-like Death By Stereo song, "Forever and a Day", which was also re-recorded for the band's following album, '' Death Is My Only Friend''. The closing track on their second album "Day of the Death" has the same name as this album, "Death For Life". Death by Stereo (also referred to as D.B.S.) is an American hardcore punk band formed in Orange County, California circa 1998 by frontman Efrem Schulz. They are well known for their energetic performances and intricate guitar work. Their name can be attributed to the 1987 horror film ''The Lost Boys,'' in which Corey Haim speaks the line. Death by Stereo has released seven full-length studio albums and one live album. Their most recent studio album, ''We're All Dying Just in Time'', was released in 2020. Hardcore Punk
Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Its roots can be traced to earlier punk scenes in San Francisco and Southern California which arose as a reaction against the still predominant hippie cultural climate of the time. Epitaph Records is an American independent record label owned by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz. ''Death Alive'' is a live album by American hardcore punk band Death by Stereo. The CD was recorded live at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, California during the '' Into the Valley of the Death'' tour. It was originally to be recorded to be given away free with an issue of ''Law of Inertia Magazine''. However, when the band realized that many of their fans did not have a copy of the CD (few fans bought the magazine, also went out of print a few years back), they decided to re-release it with Reignition Records on March 13, 2007. ''Death Is My Only Friend'' is the fifth studio album by American hardcore punk band Death by Stereo, released in July 2009. It is their first album in four years, since the release of '' Death for Life'' in 2005, the longest gap between Death by Stereo's studio albums to date. Album information Writing and recording sessions for ''Death Is My Only Friend'' lasted for almost two years, making it the longest time Death by Stereo has ever spent making an album. Writing for the follow-up to ''Death for Life'' began in the summer/fall 2006 while original guitarist Jim Miner and original drummer Jarrod Alexander would reunite with the band to work on the album. ''Day of the Death'' is the second album by American hardcore punk band Death by Stereo, released in 2001. The band became more widely known after this release due to their switch from the Indecision Records label to the larger Epitaph Records label. This is the group's first album on Epitaph Records. Efrem Schulz
Efrem "The Bean" Schulz (born December 16, 1974) is an American punk rock singer of Mexican descent, best known for his work with Death by Stereo. As of Paul Miner's departure in 2005, he is the only remaining original member of the band. He also took over as lead singer of Voodoo Glow Skulls following the departure of "Frank Voodoo" Casillas, and is the frontman for the Chicano-themed punk parody band Manic Hispanic. He was previously in a band called ''Clint'' (named so because of a friend named Clint), who released two demos, a 7 Inch, and a full-length disc. Prior bands to Clint include ''Blue Bottle'' and ''Hard As Mother Nature''. Dan Palmer (born August 14, 1978), who is originally from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, is an English guitarist and now lives in Whittier, California, United States. He is the lead guitarist of the bands Death By Stereo (since Oct 1999) and Zebrahead (since 2013). He has been using Fernandes guitars for a very long time. Biography He was formerly the guitarist for a hardcore punk band called ''Eyelid'', which was formed in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, California in 1994. He joined the band in 1996 but they broke up in 1999. In the same year, Keith Barney, who was the guitarist of a hardcore punk band, Death by Stereo, left the band, so Dan took over Keith's place as the lead guitarist. Hennig joined Death by Stereo after previous drummer Tim Bender left, which was mid-late 2001.
