Death Magic
Death Magic is the third studio album by American noise rock band Health (band), Health. It was released by Loma Vista Recordings on August 7, 2015, six years after the band's previous album, ''Get Color''. Background and recording After their last main album ''Get Color'' in 2009, Health was hired by Rockstar Games to work on the soundtrack for ''Max Payne 3''. During the production of that album, they refined their production style; this combined with lengthy touring and "perfectionist" tendencies lead to a hiatus from non-soundtrack work. The band intended to make a "modern rock record" driven by sonic experimentation and distinct from their previous work. Inspired by their soundtrack work and their ''Disco'' remix albums, they decided to take their next album in a more electronic music, electronically-influenced direction, being partially inspired by genres such as intelligent dance music and artists such as Burial (musician), Burial. Health (often stylized as HEALTH) is an American noise rock/ industrial band from Los Angeles, California. History Health was created after its members agreed the name should be an "everyday word." After reviewing a long list of terms, "health" was the only one not taken. ''Health'' Health first gained reputation through a remix of their song " Crimewave" by experimental electronic band Crystal Castles in August 2007. The rendition helped broaden Health's audience in anticipation for their full-length debut a month later released under Lovepump United. The band's self-titled album was recorded in L.A.’s noise/experimental venue, The Smell. Known for its DIY mystique, Health knew how difficult, yet rewarding, it would be to record in the space. ''Max Payne 3'' is a 2012 third-person shooter video game developed and published by Rockstar Games. It was released on May 15, 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; a Microsoft Windows port was released on May 29, 2012, followed by an OS X port on June 20, 2013. Metacritic is a website that aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry. Woodrow Wilson Jackson III (born June 10, 1970) is an American composer and session musician. He is best known for his work with Rockstar Games, composing scores for its video games ''Red Dead Redemption'', ''L.A. Noire'', ''Grand Theft Auto V'', and ''Red Dead Redemption 2''. Born in Oil City, Pennsylvania, Jackson studied at Virginia State University for one year, taking harmonica lessons before dropping out and playing guitar in a band. He moved to Los Angeles in 1992, and eventually joined the band Friends of Dean Martinez. He later became a session musician, working on the soundtracks of films like ''Ocean's Twelve'' (2004) and '' The Devil Wears Prada'' (2006).
