Death (punk Band)
Death is an American musical group formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 1971 by brothers Bobby (bass, vocals), David (guitar), and Dannis Hackney (drums, percussion). The trio initially started as a funk group but quickly switched their style to rock after seeing concerts by the Who and Alice Cooper. Music critic Peter Margasak retrospectively wrote that David "pushed the group in a hard-rock direction that presaged punk, and while this certainly didn't help them find a following in the mid-70s, today it makes them look like visionaries" – David himself having been called "the visionary of the group". Publications such as ''Gawker'' have named them as one of the first punk rock bands. Boomslang: A Celebration of Sound & Art was an annual multi-venue music festival in Lexington (Kentucky), Lexington, Kentucky, organized by the University of Kentucky's college radio station, WRFL. The festival was an extension of WRFL's mission to provide a platform for non-mainstream, non-commercial music and other programming not found elsewhere in the region, featuring a variety of artists from both the region and from around the world. Joey Ramone
Jeffrey Ross Hyman (May 19, 1951 – April 15, 2001), known professionally as Joey Ramone, was an American singer, songwriter, and the lead vocalist and founding member of the punk rock band Ramones, with Johnny Ramone and Dee Dee Ramone. His image, voice, and tenure with the Ramones made him a Counterculture, countercultural icon. Born to a Jewish family in Queens, New York City, he was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia at age 18. ''...For the Whole World to See'' is a studio album by the Detroit band Death, released in 2009 and consisting of various demos originally recorded in the mid 1970s. History In 1975 the band entered a studio to record a 12-song album. After refusing to change their group's name, Death was turned away by Clive Davis of Columbia Records. Only seven songs were completed and the album was never released. The surviving songs were released as ''...For the Whole World to See'' in 2009 by Drag City. Just prior to and right after the record's release, the songs on ''...For the Whole World to See'' were performed live by Rough Francis, a band formed by the three sons of Death's original bassist.
