Death (album)
''Death'' is the second studio album by Spanish extreme metal band Teitanblood. It was released on 13 May 2014 through The Ajna Offensive and Norma Evangelium Diaboli record labels. Critical reception Pitchfork critic Kim Kelly described the record as "a complete homage to extremity and regression, yet it pushes boundaries that lesser bands never thought to look for." Kelly further stated: "Teitanblood grimly bring order to chaos, and with ''Death'', have surpassed themselves once more." Pitchfork's Brandon Stosuy also listed the album as number 19 on his list of "The Best Metal Albums of 2014". Teitanblood
Teitanblood is a Spanish extreme metal band formed in 2003. Based in Madrid, the band currently consists of NSK (vocals, guitar, bass) and J (drums). The band released its debut album, ''Seven Chalices'' in 2009. Its follow-up, ''Death'', was released 13 May 2014 via The Ajna Offensive and Norma Evangelium Diaboli record labels. The latter record was included on Decibel magazine’s list of ''Top 40 Albums of 2014'' as number 26. Teitanblood's music is generally labeled as death metal and black metal. The band's debut was described by BrooklynVegan as "the most discordant, destructive, and ultimately unfucwitable blackened death in a long time", and their follow-up album was labeled by Pitchfork as "a weaponized hybrid of the two genres". The band's music also features influences from bands such as Repulsion, Necrovore, Incantation, Autopsy, as well as thrash metal. The Ajna Offensive
The Ajna Offensive is an American independent record label which releases extreme metal, experimental music and neofolk records, and books related to occultism, ritual work, magic theory and meta-history. The proprietor of the label is Tyler Davis, who had met a man with a music project called Plecid and who subsequently worked with Stephen O'Malley on the black metal fanzine ''Descent''. O'Malley was later involved with the development of The Ajna Offensive record label. Ajna, a Sanskrit word meaning command, is the third eye chakra, the sixth primary chakra in the body, according to Hindu tradition. Chris Reifert (born February 23, 1968) is an American death metal musician. He is the founder, vocalist, and drummer of Autopsy (band), Autopsy. He was previously a founding member of Abscess (band), Abscess, and drummer for Death (metal band), Death. Career Reifert had a friend who was a DJ at a local radio station that was running an ad for musicians “Musicians needed for the new lineup of Death, or something like that.” He heard about it before the ad had aired.
