Joel Thomas Zimmerman (born January 5, 1981), known professionally as deadmau5 (pronounced "dead-mouse"), is a Canadian electronic music producer and disc jockey, DJ. His musical style mostly includes progressive house and electro house music, though he also produces and DJs other genres of electronic music, including techno under the alias Testpilot. Zimmerman appears and performs with a custom helmet, similar to Daft Punk and later inspiring Marshmello. He has received seven Grammy Award nominations and won four Juno Awards for his songs. Zimmerman has worked with other DJs and producers, such as Wolfgang Gartner, Rob Swire, and Chris Lake. ''Random Album Title'' is the third studio album by Canadian electronic music producer Deadmau5, released by Ultra Records and Mau5trap on September 2, 2008. The album includes the singles " Faxing Berlin", " Not Exactly" and " I Remember" (with Kaskade). Following the success of "I Remember" in the UK, ''Random Album Title'' later entered the UK Albums Chart at number 31 in May 2009. Songs The track "Slip" is named after its hook, which intentionally falls out of time with the beat and melody of the song. The original mix of " Faxing Berlin" is 8:37 compared to the mixed album version's length, which is only 2:36. Combined with its preceding acoustic piano intro on the continuous mix version it is 4:15. On the unmixed version, both these tracks are replaced by the original mix. ''Get Scraped'' is the debut studio album by Canadian electronic music producer Deadmau5, released on July 26, 2005, by the independent record label Zoolook. Background On November 23, 2004, the now-defunct online platform SectionZ launched a remix contest to promote Zimmerman's forthcoming debut album. Contestants were invited to remix tracks he had uploaded to his user page, with the winning entry intended for inclusion on the album. The track title "Bored of Canada" presumably refers to Boards of Canada, a Scottish downtempo and IDM act whom Zimmerman has pointed to as one of his influences. The track itself is a short, interlude-like track that is reminiscent of the Boards of Canada signature. The track is followed by nearly one minute of silence, and then a few seconds of the track repeating from the beginning again.
