De Wever Government
The De Wever government is the incumbent federal government of Belgium after the 2024 Belgian federal election. On 31 January 2025, a final agreement was reached between New Flemish Alliance, N-VA, Christian Democratic and Flemish, CD&V, Vooruit (political party), Vooruit, Reformist Movement, MR and Les Engagés to form a so-called "Arizona coalition", named after the colours of the Flag of Arizona, Arizona state flag. The new government is led by Bart de Wever, who is the first Flemish Movement, Flemish-Nationalist Prime Minister of Belgium. Bart Albert Liliane De Wever (; born 21 December 1970) is a Belgian author, historian and politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Belgium since February 2025. From 2004 to 2025, De Wever had been the leader of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA), a political party advocating for the transformation of Belgium into a Confederation, confederal state. From January 2013 to February 2025, he was List of mayors of Antwerp, Mayor of Antwerp, following the 2012 Belgian local elections, 2012 municipal elections. The De Croo Government was the Federal Government of Belgium, led by Prime Minister Alexander De Croo from 1 October 2020 to 3 February 2025. The second von der Leyen Commission is the current European Commission, in office since 1 December 2024. The Flemish Movement (, ) is an umbrella term which encompasses various political groups in the Belgium, Belgian region of Flanders and, less commonly, in French Flanders. Ideologically, it encompasses groups which have sought to promote Flemish culture and the Dutch language as well as those seeking greater political autonomy for Flanders within Belgium. Reformist Movement
The Reformist Movement (, , MR) is a liberal French-speaking political party in Belgium, which includes social-liberal and conservative-liberal factions. Stemming from the Belgian Liberal Party founded in 1846, the MR is one of the oldest parties on the European continent. Since October 2014, the party has provided two prime ministers: Charles Michel and Sophie Wilmès. It has been a member of every federal government since the 2000s. At the federated entities level, the MR was in charge of Wallonia from 2017 to 2019 with Willy Borsus as Minister-President of Wallonia. Vooruit (, Dutch for Forward) is a Flemish social democratic political party in Belgium. It was formerly known as the (Flemish) Socialist Party (1978–2001: ''Socialistische Partij'', SP; 2001–2021: ''Socialistische Partij Anders'' , , SP.A) until 21 March 2021, when its current name was adopted. The party was founded following the linguistic split of the unitary Belgian Socialist Party in 1978, which also produced the Francophone Socialist Party. The Belgian Socialist Party itself consisted of former members of the Belgian Labour Party.
