''The Johnsons'' or '' De Johnsons '' is a 1992 Dutch horror film thriller directed by Rudolf van den Berg. It also known under the title ''Xangadix''. The film was nominated for a ''Fantasy Film Award'' at the ''Porto Film Festival'' in Portugal. The music composed by Patrick Seymour (Eurythmics) won an award for Best Soundtrack at the ''Avoriaz Film Festival'' in France and at the ''Imagfic Film Festival'' in Spain. The movie also received an award for its special effects. It was the last Dutch horror motion picture in the twentieth century and is considered to be one of the best Dutch horror (Netherhorror) feature films of all time, along with ''De Lift'', ''Amsterdamned'' and '' The Human Centipede''. Rudolf van den Berg (; born 6 January 1949) is a Dutch writer and director. Van den Berg has been making films and documentaries for over thirty years now. Often praised and crowned, sometimes seriously criticized, Van den Berg's work has always succeeded in stirring passionate reactions. ''Amsterdamned'' is a 1988 Dutch crime thriller with slasher film elements directed and written by Dick Maas, and stars Huub Stapel, Monique van de Ven, and Serge-Henri Valcke. The plot revolves around a serial killer who uses the famed canals of the Dutch capital to murder random people, one of which involves a detective's girlfriend linked to the murders. Plot Opening in a point-of-view shot, a murderer looks around the city of Amsterdam at night through the canals. He sneaks into a Chinese restaurant's backdoor and steals a butcher knife while the cooks are not looking. Olga Zuiderhoek (born September 16, 1946, in Assen) is a Dutch actress. She graduated in 1970 from the Amsterdam Theater School. After having been associated with the cooperative association Het Werkteater for many years, she worked for the theater companies De Mexican Hond and Orkater and played mainly in new plays by homegrown, sometimes written for her. Theater Zuiderhoek was a member of the innovative theater group Het Werkteater from 1974 to 1982. De Biesbosch National Park is one of the largest national parks in the Netherlands and one of the last extensive areas of freshwater tidal wetlands in Northwestern Europe. The Lift
''The Lift'' () is a 1983 Dutch science fiction horror film written and directed by Dick Maas. The plot concerns an elevator that mysteriously begins to function intelligently on its own, where victims who go near the elevator or use it are killed. The film was first released in the Netherlands on 11 May 1983. Warner Bros. acquired the international distribution rights for the film outside the Netherlands and Belgium. An American remake was also directed by Maas, titled '' Down'' and released in 2001. Plot In a building in Amsterdam, an elevator inexplicably begins to function alone. Roy Frumkes
Roy Frumkes is an American independent filmmaker. Frumkes directed the 1985 documentary '' Document of the Dead'', a film detailing the production of '' Dawn of the Dead''. Biography The cooperation of George A. Romero allowed Frumkes extensive access to the creative process of the filmmaker, and the finished product is as much an overview and analysis of Romero's early career as a "making-of" documentary. In ''Video Watchdog'' magazine, critic Tim Lucas called ''Document of the Dead'' "an intelligent, arresting, and authoritative examination of Romero's working filmmaking style..."
