DeWayne Patmon
DeWayne Nelson Patmon (born April 25, 1979) is a former American football player. He played as a defensive back for University of Michigan from 1997 to 2000 where he won a national championship and three Big Ten Conference championships and for the New York Giants from 2001 to 2002. He has also had small parts in a pair of Hollywood film productions. Early years Patmon attended Patrick Henry High School in San Diego, California. In high school, he was a 6-foot-1, 185-pound free safety for Patrick Henry's football team and was selected as a first-team All-County player by the ''San Diego Union-Tribune''. As a senior in high school, he received numerous scholarship officers and narrowed his choices to Notre Dame, Texas and Michigan. Defensive Back
In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage. 1997 Michigan Wolverines Football Team
The 1997 Michigan Wolverines football team represented the University of Michigan in the 1997 Big Ten Conference football season. In its third year under head coach Lloyd Carr, Michigan compiled a perfect 12–0 record, won the Big Ten Conference championship, defeated Washington State in the 1998 Rose Bowl, and was declared the national champion by the Associated Press. The Wolverines finished second to the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Coaches Poll, resulting in a split national championship. Michigan's defense was led by cornerback and Heisman Trophy-winner Charles Woodson. Lloyd Carr
Lloyd Henry Carr Jr. (born July 30, 1945) is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Michigan from 1995 through the 2007 season. Under Carr, the Michigan Wolverines compiled a record of 122–40 and won or shared five Big Ten Conference titles (1997, 1998, 2000, 2003, and 2004). Carr's undefeated 1997 team was declared the national champion by the Associated Press. His record coaching against top ten-ranked opponents was 20–8. Carr was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2011. The 1998 Michigan State Spartans football team competed on behalf of Michigan State University in the Big Ten Conference during the 1998 NCAA Division I-A football season. Marcus Ray
Marcus Kenyon Ray (born August 14, 1976) is an American football coach and former player. In college, he played for the Michigan Wolverines football team and was a member of the 1997 squad that won a national championship. Ray played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for the Oakland Raiders and for the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe.
