Affreca De Courcy
Affreca de Courcy or Affrica Guðrøðardóttir was a late 12th-/early 13th century noblewoman. She was the daughter of Godred Olafsson, King of the Isles, a member of the Crovan dynasty. In the late 12th century she married John de Courcy. Affrica is noted for religious patronage in Northern Ireland. Alfred De Courcy
Alfred de Courcy (Alfred de Courcy, 1866–1931) was a Birmingham whistle maker from 1888 to 1927, who founded the company A de Courcy & Co. He was the largest whistle maker beside J.Hudson & Co. from 1906 until 1927, when Hudson bought out the whistle-making part of the company. Whistle maker Whilst whistles were stamped A De Courcy, the family never capitalise the 'de' and as such Alfred is Alfred Edward de Courcy. De Courcy made whistles for 45 years. He started working at J Hudson & Co in 1883 and became a foreman. He left to form his own whistle-making brass foundry in 1888. It is not known how he raised the money for this, as despite several sources suggesting he had an aristocratic background, he came from a semi skilled working-class family living in Hockley. Ochelle Anya De Courcy (born 5 August 1997), known as Anya De Courcy, is a Trinidadian footballer who plays as a forward for Norwegian First Division club Røa IL and the Trinidad and Tobago women's national team. Robert Phillip DeCourcy (June 12, 1927 – March 25, 2012) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played in one National Hockey League game for the New York Rangers during the 1947–48 season. He died in Alliston, Ontario, on March 25, 2012, at the age of 84. Playing career DeCourcy played with the New York Rovers of the Eastern Hockey League. Graduating from University College Dublin (UCD) with a PhD in Drama, she began working for Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) as an assistant script editor on the Irish soap ''Fair City'' in 2000. After a promotion to Script Editor and successful stints as Story Editor and Story Producer on ''Emmerdale'', she transferred to the BBC. She worked as Series Story Producer on ''EastEnders'' under Kate Harwood. This period, from 2005 to 2006, represented a return to form for the show. Henri Roussel De Courcy
Philippe Marie Henri Roussel, count of Courcy (30 May 1827 – 8 November 1887) was a French divisional general. De Courcy was the governor of Nancy in 1881 which was an important place next to Lorraine. De Courcy served as the commander of Tonkin Expeditionary Corps and took part in Tonkin Campaign from 1885 to 1887. He was appointed Protector of Annam. When he arrived at Huế on July 3, 1885, de Courcy summoned Nguyễn Văn Tường and Tôn Thất Thuyết, both were regents of Vietnamese royal court, to his residence for a discussion on the presentation of his credentials to the Emperor Hàm Nghi. James Harry de Courcy (18 April 1927 – 20 June 2000) was an Australian cricketer who played in three Test matches on the 1953 Australian tour of England. De Courcy was a dashing right-handed middle-order batsman who played for New South Wales for 10 years from the 1947–48 season. A regular as a specialist batsman in the state side from 1949 to 1950, he did not make a first-class century until late in the 1951–52 season, when he hit 114 against South Australia in the Sheffield Shield match at Sydney. That remained his highest score in Australia, though he added a second domestic cricket century the following season, 1952–53, in the match against Victoria at Melbourne. The 1952–53 season was de Courcy's most successful in Australian cricket, with 503 runs at an average of 41.91 runs per innings.
