DCide is a privately held, Washington, D.C. based independent record label and distributor. The label was started in summer of 1995 by founding partners Jeffrey B. Clyburn, Burton Gray and Mark Thorp. Their first act Nothingface sold over 500,000 records worldwide and is widely recognized as one of the standard-bearers for the new metal genre. In 2002, DCide entered into a partnership with Geffen Records to release the debut record from TRUSTcompany out of Montgomery, Alabama. TRUSTcompany's guitar driven rock evokes memories of the Smashing Pumpkins with Deftones-like vocal stylings and bottom heavy riffing reminiscent of Led Zeppelin. TRUSTcompany enjoyed both critical and commercial success as their debut album " The Lonely Position of Neutral" went on to be certified Gold. True Parallels
''True Parallels'' is the second studio album by American rock band Trust Company. Originally to be released in 2004, the release date was pushed back to March 21, 2005, internationally and on March 22, 2005, in the United States. Despite little promotion from their label, the album entered the ''Billboard'' album charts at number 32 and has gone on to sell in excess of 200,000 copies. Background Trust Company was originally scheduled to play at Ozzfest 2003, but canceled to focus on finishing ''True Parallels''. Several months prior to the album's release, original bassist Josh Moates left the group and was replaced by Walker Warren. "Stronger" was released in February 2005 as the album's single. It has two versions for the music videos, the original version features the band performing at a party. Statik Selektah
Patrick Owen Baril (born January 23, 1982), professionally known as Statik Selektah, is an American record producer, disc jockey (DJ) and radio personality originally from the Boston, Massachusetts area. He is also the founder of Showoff Records. In 2010, he formed the hip hop group 1982, alongside American rapper Termanology. He has resided in New York City since 2004. Life and career Statik Selektah was born on January 23, 1982, in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He was introduced to music at a young age, experimenting with his parents' eight-track machine, cassette recorders, and turntable. By middle school, he was already DJing school functions, but he was inspired to be a professional DJ after hearing DJ Premier and Funkmaster Flex scratch and mix records on Hot 97 in New York City. Ariyan Arslani (born December 2, 1983), professionally known as Action Bronson, is an American rapper and television presenter. Born and raised in Queens, he released his debut mixtape ''Bon Appetit ..... Bitch!!!!!'' in January 2011 and independently released his debut album, ''Dr. Lecter (album), Dr. Lecter'', in March 2011. In August 2012, Arslani signed his first major-label deal with Warner Bros. ''Well-Done'' is a collaborative studio album by American rapper Action Bronson and hip-hop record producer DJ Statik Selektah. It was released on November 22, 2011 through DCide/ShowOff Records with distribution via Switchblade Music. Produced entirely by Statik Selektah, it features guest appearances from Meyhem Lauren, AG Da Coroner, Lil' Fame, Maffew Ragazino and Nina Sky. The album was supported with a single "Cocoa Butter". Critical reception ''Well-Done'' was met with universal acclaim from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 79 based on eight reviews. Digable Planets () is an American hip hop trio formed in 1987. The trio is composed of rappers Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Mariana "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira, and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving. The group is notable for their contributions to the subgenres of jazz rap and alternative hip hop. History Origins Butler and Irving met in Philadelphia in the late 1980s. Originally from Seattle, Butler was interning at Sleeping Bag Records in New York and would visit his grandmother in Philadelphia, where he met local native Irving, who was rapping with a group called the Dread Poets Society. Irving had in turn met Vieira, who was originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, while attending Howard University in Washington, D.C. Shabazz Palaces is an American hip hop group from Seattle led by Ishmael Butler a.k.a. Palaceer Lazaro (formerly Butterfly of jazz rap group Digable Planets). Much of Butler's work as Shabazz Palaces has been made in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Tendai "Baba" Maraire, son of mbira master Dumisani Maraire. ''The Lonely Position of Neutral'' is the debut album by American rock band Trust Company. It was released on July 22, 2002 internationally and on July 23, 2002, in the United States; a version including two bonus tracks was released on February 19, 2003. ''The Lonely Position of Neutral'' is Trust Company's most successful album to date and was certified gold for sales in excess of 500,000 copies. The track "Drop to Zero" was also known as "The Lonely Position of Neutral" back when the band was known as 41Down, and was later remade for this album.
