Daytona Beach Bike Week, also called Daytona Bike Week, is a motorcycle event and motorcycle rally, rally held annually in Daytona Beach, Florida. American Flat Track is an American Motorcycle sport, motorcycle racing series. The racing series, founded and sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in 1954, originally encompassed five distinct forms of competitions including mile Dirt track racing, dirt track races, half-mile, short-track, TT steeplechase and Road racing, road races. WESH (channel 2) is a television station licensed to Daytona Beach, Florida, United States, serving the Orlando area as an affiliate of NBC. It is owned by Hearst Television alongside Clermont-licensed CW affiliate WKCF (channel 18). The two stations share studios on North Wymore Road in Eatonville (using a Winter Park address); WESH's transmitter is located on Brown Road near Christmas, Florida. Biketoberfest
Biketoberfest is an annual motorcycle rally held in the fall in Daytona Beach, Florida since 1991 or 1992. In 1992 it was known as "Daytona Fall Tour"; in 1993, it started to be called Biketoberfest, and is now known as the "little brother" of the spring Daytona Beach Bike Week event. Attendance for Biketoberfest 2013 was estimated to be c. 100,000 visitors. The event's organizing authority is Halifax Area Advertising Authority, whose director has noted attendance has dropped off since 2004, and the 100,000 attendance figure is an approximation as entry is free without a ticket, and that the true attendance is "nearly impossible to count". Local merchants have asked to have the event extended from four days to 10 days in duration. Daytona Beach Police Department
The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) is the primary law enforcement agency for Daytona Beach, Florida. Its current chief of police is Jakari Young. The main headquarters is located at 129 Valor Blvd. In January 2009, the former location at 990 Orange Ave was closed due to age (built in 1957 with additions in 1964 and 1971, and renovations in 1978) and its small size. Shortly after closing, in May 2009 the old headquarters was flooded along with large areas of the city after historic rains inundated Daytona. The former headquarters was demolished in late 2017 after a lengthy asbestos remediation process. A DBPD substation is located on Orange Ave across the street from the former headquarters location. ''The Ledger'' is a daily newspaper serving Lakeland, Florida, and the Polk County area. History The paper was founded on August 22, 1924, as the ''Lakeland Evening Ledger''. In 1927, it bought its main competitor, the morning ''Lakeland Star-Telegram''. By 1930, it was obvious that Lakeland could not support two papers, so Ledger Publishing Company merged the two papers into a single morning paper, the ''Lakeland Ledger and Star-Telegram''.
