Dawn Sanders
Dawn Jane Sanders is a New Zealand theatre scholar, and the founder and current CEO of the Shakespeare's Globe Centre New Zealand. She received the 2006 Sam Wanamaker Award for her foundation of this centre. In the 1992 New Year Honours (New Zealand), 1992 New Year Honours, Sanders was awarded the Queen's Service Medal for community service. In the 2013 Birthday Honours (New Zealand), 2013 Queen's Birthday Honours, she was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to theatre. Dawn is the time that marks the beginning of twilight before sunrise. It is recognized by the diffuse sky radiation, appearance of indirect sunlight being Rayleigh scattering, scattered in Earth's atmosphere, when the centre of the Sun's disc has reached 18° below the observer's horizon. This morning twilight period will last until sunrise (when the Sun's upper limb breaks the horizon), when daylight, direct sunlight outshines the light scattering by particles, diffused light. Sam Wanamaker Award
The Sam Wanamaker Award or Sam Wanamaker Prize is an award established in 1994 for pioneering work in Shakespearean theatre, usually given to individuals who have worked closely with Shakespeare's Globe or the Royal Shakespeare Company; the award is not specific to artistic contribution, and has frequently been granted to businessmen and academics. It is one of the two current British awards for classical theatre, alongside the Ian Charleson Award. It is presented by Shakespeare's Globe and named after Sam Wanamaker, the theatre's founder. Queen's Service Medal
The King's Service Medal (created as the Queen's Service Medal in 1975 and renamed in 2024) is a medal awarded by the government of New Zealand to recognise and reward volunteer service to the community and also public service in elected or appointed public office. It was established in 1975 and is related to the Queen's Service Order. The QSM replaced the Imperial Service Medal as an award of New Zealand. On 3 May 2024, the Queen's Service Medal was renamed to the King's Service Medal by Royal Warrant. The New Zealand Order of Merit () is an order of merit in the New Zealand royal honours system. It was established by royal warrant on 30 May 1996 by Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand, "for those persons who in any field of endeavour, have rendered meritorious service to the Crown and nation or who have become distinguished by their eminence, talents, contributions or other merits", to recognise outstanding service to the Crown and people of New Zealand in a civil or military capacity.
