Atlantic 10 Conference
The Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) is a collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference whose schools compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) NCAA Division I, Division I. The A-10's member schools are located mostly on the East Coast of the United States, East Coast and Midwestern United States, Midwest of the United States: Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York (state), New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Although some of its members are state-funded, half of its membership is made up of private, Catholic Church, Catholic institutions. Davidson, North Carolina
Davidson is a suburban town in Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Cabarrus counties, North Carolina, United States. It is a suburb in the Charlotte metropolitan area. The population was 15,106 at the 2020 census, up from 10,944 in 2010. The town was founded in 1837 with the establishment of the Presbyterian Davidson College, named for Brigadier General William Lee Davidson, a local Revolutionary War hero. The land for Davidson College came from Davidson's estate, a large portion of which was donated by his son. Rucker Taylor
Rucker Taylor is an American college baseball coach, currently serving as head coach of the Davidson Wildcats baseball team. Taylor played baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team while obtaining a degree. He achieved his master's degree while coaching for the Samford Bulldogs baseball team. Coaching career Taylor began coaching as a graduate assistant for the Samford Bulldogs baseball team in 2007. On August 1, 2012, Taylor joined Dick Cooke's coaching staff with the Davidson Wildcats baseball team. Taylor served as the major catalyst for turning Davidson into a winning program, as they have finished with a winning record in 5 of his 6 seasons as coach. In February, 2018, Taylor was named the successor to Cooke beginning the 2019 season. Davidson Wildcats
The Davidson Wildcats are the NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics teams representing Davidson College of Davidson, North Carolina, United States. A member of the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10), Davidson College sponsors teams in ten men's and nine women's NCAA sanctioned sports. The Wildcats previously competed in the Southern Conference, and the wrestling team retains associate membership in that league since the sport is not sponsored by the A-10. 2017 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament
The 2017 NCAA Division I baseball tournament began on June 1, 2017, as part of the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64-team, double-elimination tournament concluded with the 2017 College World Series (CWS) in Omaha, Nebraska. The CWS started on June 17 and ended on June 27. The 64 participating NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of an eligible 299 teams. Thirty-one teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conferences, and 33 teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Teams were divided into sixteen regionals of four teams, which conducted a double-elimination tournament. Regional champions then faced each other in Super Regionals, a best-of-three-game series, to determine the eight participants in the College World Series.
