David Zamar
David "Boyzie" Zamar (sometimes misspelled as Boysie or Boycie) (born December 30, 1966) is a Filipino basketball coach who currently serves as an assistant coach of San Miguel Beermen. He is the father of former UE Red Warrior and former Beermen Paul Zamar. Career Zamar worked as an assistant coach to Louie Alas at the Manila Metrostars, that time the team is led by their star Rommel Adducul and future PBA coach Alex Compton. He was appointed as Philippine national team head coach, and led the team to gold medals in 2001 SEABA Championship and 2001 Southeast Asian Games. He served as the head coach of Soccsargen Marlins. After MBA fold in 2002, he was later coached the then James Yap-led UE Red Warriors. They bring the team to the second seed and final four appearance, but defeated by Ateneo. Alaska Aces (PBA)
The Alaska Aces were a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association since 1986 PBA season, 1986 under the ownership of Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) and the owner of 14 PBA championships, tied with the Magnolia Hotshots for the third-most titles overall. They were one of the most popular teams in the league and the Philippines. Alex Compton
Alexander M. Compton (born March 16, 1974) is a Filipino-born American retired basketball player and coach. He also served as the head coach of the Alaska Aces of the Philippine Basketball Association. Early life and college career Born in Makati in the Philippines, Compton and his family spent a year in northeastern Thailand when he was ten years old. His parents, both Southeast Asian Studies scholars, were researchers there. Compton moved to Madison from Ithaca, New York in 1988, when his parents began working at the University of Wisconsin. He was a starting guard on the 1992 Madison West High School basketball squad. There he helped lead the school's only state championship team since 1945. In recognition of his prep basketball career, he was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2023. Rommel Adducul
Rommel Adducul (born April 21, 1976) is a Filipino former professional basketball player who currently serves as an assistant coach for the Adamson Soaring Falcons of the UAAP. Career In college, Adducul, a three-time Most Valuable Player, led the San Sebastian Stags to five consecutive NCAA basketball championships from 1993 to 1997. He won the NCAA Seniors Most valuable Player (MVP) back-to-back from 1996 and 1997. At the same time, he was a star in the Philippine Basketball League playing for the defunct Chowking Food Masters, his UAAP counterpart at that time and later Arch-rival was Danny Ildefonso. Paul Zamar
Paul Christian Zamar (born October 20, 1987) is a Filipino professional basketball player who last played for the NorthPort Batang Pier of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). On January 5, 2023, while still being a restricted free agent, Zamar was traded to the NorthPort Batang Pier for Allyn Bulanadi and San Miguel's 2025 second round pick. 2001 SEA Games
The 2001 Southeast Asian Games (), officially known as the 21st Southeast Asian Games, were a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This was the fifth time that Malaysia plays as SEA Games hosts, the country previously held the event in 1965, 1971, 1977, and 1989, all of which were staged in Kuala Lumpur. Held from 8 to 17 September 2001 (although several events had commenced from 1 September 2001), these were the first SEA Games to have taken place in the new millennium. Around 4,165 athletes have participated at the Kuala Lumpur Games, which featured 391 events in 32 sports. It was opened by Salahuddin, the King of Malaysia at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium. The Philippines men's national basketball team, Philippines have dominated the men's events since the sport was played, winning 19 of the 22 events.
