David Wolinski
David James "Hawk" Wolinski (born May 13, 1948) is an American keyboardist, songwriter and record producer, best known for his work with the funk band Rufus and their lead singer Chaka Khan. Biography Born May 13, 1948, Wolinski grew up in Chicago, and in the late 1960s, was the keyboard player and lead singer of the band the Males, and a member of The Shadows of Knight and Bangor Flying Circus. When the latter band broke up he helped form Madura, which was produced by fellow Chicagoan James William Guercio. Guercio used Madura in his 1973 film '' Electra Glide in Blue''. In the 1960s, Wolinski formed a short-lived band in Chicago called the Electric Band. They played regularly at a club called The Cellar. In the late 1970s, Wolinski joined Rufus as a keyboardist and songwriter. "Everlasting Love" is a song written by Buzz Cason and Mac Gayden, originally a 1967 hit for Robert Knight and since covered numerous times. The most successful version in the UK was performed by Love Affair and the highest-charting version in the US was performed by Carl Carlton. Other cover versions were performed by Town Criers, Rex Smith & Rachel Sweet, Sandra Cretu, U2 and Gloria Estefan. The original version of "Everlasting Love" was recorded by Knight in Nashville, with Cason and Gayden aiming to produce it in a Motown style reminiscent of the Four Tops and the Temptations. ''Cobra'' is a 1986 American action film directed by George P. Cosmatos and written by Sylvester Stallone, who stars in the titular role. Minnie Riperton
Minnie Julia Riperton (November 8, 1947 – July 12, 1979) was an American soul singer and songwriter best known for her 1974 single " Lovin' You", her five-octave vocal range, and her use of the whistle register. Born in 1947, Riperton grew up in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side. As a child, she studied music, drama and dance at Chicago's Abraham Lincoln Center. In her teen years, she sang lead vocals for the Chicago-based girl group The Gems. Her early affiliation with the Chicago-based Chess Records afforded her the opportunity to sing backing vocals for various established artists such as Etta James, Fontella Bass, Ramsey Lewis, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters. Jeffrey Linton Osborne (born March 9, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter, musician and lyricist. He is the former drummer and lead singer of the American R&B/soul group L.T.D.
