David Tikoian
David P. Tikoian is an Armenian-American politician and retired police chief from Smithfield, Rhode Island. Early life and education Tikoian was born in Smithfield, Rhode Island on July 9th, 1968. In 1986 he graduated from Smithfield High School. After high school he obtained an associates degree from the Community College of Rhode Island in 1988, and in 1990 he graduated from Bryant University with a BS in Business Administration. He finished his education two years later in 1992 after completing his training at the Rhode Island State Police Academy. Career Tikoian had a long career with the Rhode Island State Police spanning 25 years. In his first 22 years in the force he worked his way to becoming a Major where he oversaw a budget of nearly 100 million dollars. Stephen R. Archambault (born August 11, 1965) is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Rhode Island Senate from District 22. Archambault was a Democratic candidate for Attorney General of Rhode Island in 2010. Smithfield is a town in Providence County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 22,118 at the 2020 census. Incorporated in 1731, it includes the historic villages of Esmond, Georgiaville, Mountaindale, Spragueville, Stillwater, and Greenville. Smithfield is home to Bryant University, a private, four-year university. History The area comprising modern-day Smithfield was first settled in 1663 as a farming community by several British colonists, including John Steere. The area was originally within the boundaries of Providence until it was incorporated as a separate municipality by the General Assembly in February 1731. The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) is a public community college in Rhode Island. It is the only community college in the state and the largest community college in New England. The college's primary facility is located in Warwick, with additional college buildings throughout the state. Bryant University is a private university in Smithfield, Rhode Island, United States. It has three colleges, the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Health and Behavioral Sciences, and the College of Business, and is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education. History Butler Exchange and downtown Providence Bryant University was founded in 1863 as a branch of a national school which originally taught bookkeeping and methods of business communication and was named after founders, John Collins Bryant and Henry Beadman Bryant. Smithfield High School (Rhode Island)
Smithfield High School is a public high school located in the Apple Valley section of Smithfield, Rhode Island, near Greenville, Rhode Island, USA (in Providence County). The school, which opened in 1966, was designed by architect Joseph M. Mosher. Prior to its opening, Smithfield students generally attended high schools in Providence or North Providence. It is the only public high school in the Town of Smithfield. High School graduation ceremonies are typically held at nearby Bryant University. The Rhode Island State Police (RISP) is an agency of the US state of Rhode Island responsible for statewide law enforcement and regulation, especially in areas underserved by local police agencies and on the state's limited-access highways.
