David Stitchkin Branover
David Stitchkin Branover (October 25, 1912 — July 12, 1997) was a Chilean attorney and rector of the University of Concepción from 1956 to 1962. Background and education He was born in Santiago, Chile, on October 25, 1912. He attended the Law School of the University of Chile. Career At age 27, Branover became a professor at the Law School of the University of Chile. In 1956 he was named rector of the University of Concepción in Concepción, Chile. He is remembered for his role in founding the university's Casa del Arte museum during his tenure as Rector. Universidad de Concepción (UdeC) is a traditional Chilean private university. The work of the Penquista community, it is one of the most prestigious in Chile, and considered complex due to its extensive research in the various areas of knowledge. Founded on May 14, 1919, it is the third oldest university in Chile, and one of the 25 universities belonging to the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities. The Casa del Arte José Clemente Orozco (more commonly known simply as the Casa del Arte, "House of Art" or Pinacoteco, "Art Gallery") is a Chilean art museum on the campus of the University of Concepción, in Concepción. Alexander Sutulov
Alexander Sutulov Popov (1925, Yugoslavia/Croatia – 1991) was a Yugoslavia-born Russian and Chilean chemical engineer specialized in electrometallurgy and extractive metallurgy and active in El Teniente copper mine and various research institutions. In the University of Concepción he contributed to the establishment of the Metallurgy, metallurgical engineering degree in 1961. He fought in the Red Army in the Second World War and graduated from the University of Belgrade in 1950. He was forced to leave Yugoslavia when a decree was issued expelling all non-Communist Russian citizens from the country. In 1955 he arrived on a contract by Braden Copper Company to the Andes, Andean mining town of Sewell, Chile, Sewell in Chile. There he worked as chief of metallurgical research of El Teniente. With 76 member companies listed as of 2025 it is more inclusive than Consejo Minero which groups only the 16 largest mining companies.
