David Russo (filmmaker)
David Russo is an American filmmaker and animator recognized for his work in independent film, independent cinema and known for his work combining live-action and stop-motion animation, as well as his surrealist style. His feature film ''The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle'' (2009) premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Russo has also received a Genius Award from ''The Stranger (newspaper), The Stranger'' and the Betty Bowen Memorial Award in Visual Arts. Career Short films and animation David Russo began his film career creating experimental short films that integrated animation with live-action. His works, including ''Populi'' (2002) and ''Pan With Us'' (2003), were presented at film festivals such as the Sundance Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, and the Tribeca Film Festival. Stop Motion Animation
Stop-motion (also known as stop frame animation) is an animation, animated filmmaking and special effects technique in which objects are physically manipulated in small increments between individually photographed frames so that they will appear to exhibit independent motion or change when the series of frames is played back. Any kind of object can thus be animated, but puppets with movable joints (puppet animation) or clay figures (claymation) are most commonly used. Puppets, models or clay figures built around an Armature (sculpture), armature are used in model animation. Stop motion with live actors is often referred to as pixilation. San Francisco International Film Festival
The San Francisco International Film Festival (abbreviated as SFIFF), organized by SFFILM, is held each spring for two weeks, presenting around 200 films from over 50 countries.
