David Ross (actor, Born 1728)
David Ross (1 May 1728 – 14 September 1790) was a British actor and theatre owner. After early appearances in Dublin, he appeared in London at Drury Lane and Covent Garden, and in Edinburgh, where as actor-manager he built a theatre. Early life and career Ross, born in London, was the son of a Writer to The Signet in Edinburgh, who settled in London in 1722 as a solicitor of appeals. He was educated at Westminster School, and some indiscretion committed there when he was thirteen years old lost him the affection, never regained, of his father, who, in his will, left instructions to Elizabeth Ross to pay her brother annually, on his birthday, the sum of one shilling "to put him in mind of his misfortune he had to be born". Ross appealed against this will in 1769, and, after carrying the case to the House of Lords, obtained nearly £6,000. How he lived after his father's abandonment is not known. David Ross (1857–1931) was a Scottish minister of the Free Church of Scotland who emigrated to Australia and founded Scotch College, Perth Life He was born on 13 August 1857 in Rosskeen near Invergordon the son of Hugh Ross, a saddler, and his wife, Jessie Hood. He studied at Aberdeen University then trained as a minister of the Free Church of Scotland at New College, Edinburgh from 1877 to 1881. He was then licensed to preach by the Free Church of Scotland and assisted the Rev Charles Salmond at St Matthew's Free Church in Glasgow. He was ordained at the Free Kirk in Crathie in 1883. In 1892 he emigrated to Australia, settling in Perth. He initially served as minister of St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Perth. David Wade Ross (born March 19, 1977) is an American former professional baseball catcher and manager. He managed the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2020 to 2023. He played in MLB for 15 seasons. Ross played college baseball for Auburn University and the University of Florida and participated in two College World Series. He started his major league career playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2002 and also played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, and Chicago Cubs. David Ross (born November 18, 1959) is a former American football player and coach. He was most recently an assistant coach for the UTSA Roadrunners football team. Ross served as the head football coach at Bacone College from 2001 to 2005, compiling a record of 27–26. He has also served as head football coach at the junior college and high school levels. Coaching career Early years Ross began his coaching career at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College in Miami, Oklahoma in 1982 after graduating from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri.
