David Phillips is an American civil engineer best known for accumulating frequent flyer miles by taking advantage of a promotion by Healthy Choice Foods in 1999. While grocery shopping he calculated that the value of a mail-in promotion for frequent flyer miles exceeded the cost of the pudding on which it was offered. In May 1999, Phillips received 1,253,000 frequent flyer miles. Phillips is the associate vice president of energy and sustainability at University of California. Process Healthy Choice was running a promotion offering 500 miles for each pack of 10 Healthy Choice bar codes ( UPC) mailed in as proof of purchase. Valuing each mile at two cents, Phillips calculated that the return per UPC ($1) was worth a significant part of the price of a frozen meal (which were selling for $2), but while shopping he found Healthy Choice soup cans for only $0.90. University career Phillips attended the University of Alberta, playing for the Alberta Golden Bears from 1986 to 1990, where he set the school record for goals with 23, holding the record until 2011 when it was broken by Brett Colvin. Sir John David Phillips (born 22 April 1944) is a retired British senior police officer. Educated at Leigh Grammar School and Manchester University (whence he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree), Phillips joined the Lancashire Constabulary in 1963, serving until 1984, when he became the Assistant Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police. In 1989, he was appointed Deputy Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police. He was promoted in 1993 to be Chief Constable of Kent Police, serving until 2003, when he was appointed Director of the National Centre for Policing Excellence. He retired in 2005. In the meantime, he had been President of the Association of Chief Police Officers (2001–03). Phillips received the Queen's Police Medal (QPM) in 1994; he was knighted in the 2000 Birthday Honours. David Atlee Phillips (October 31, 1922 – July 7, 1988) was an American Central Intelligence Agency officer of 25 years and a recipient of the Career Intelligence Medal. Phillips rose to become the CIA's chief of operations for the Western Hemisphere. In 1975, he founded the Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO), an alumni association comprising Intelligence (information gathering), intelligence officers from all services. David Phillips (born 14 August 1987) is a British professional ice hockey defenceman, currently playing for National Ice Hockey League (NIHL) side Hull Seahawks. Phillips was previously with EIHL sides Belfast Giants and Sheffield Steelers. David Owen Phillips (born 29 July 1963) is a Welsh football coach, commentator and former player. As a player he was a midfielder and played in the Premier League for both Norwich City and Nottingham Forest. He also had lengthy spells in the top flight for both Manchester City and Coventry City as well as playing in the Football League for Huddersfield Town and Lincoln City.
