David Peña Dorantes
David Peña Dorantes (born 1969) is a Romani pianist and composer from Andalusia ( Spain) known for his compositions and performances of flamenco. His music has been influenced by Debussy and jazz. His first album, ''Orobroy'', released in 1998, received both critical and public acclaim. His second album, released in 2001 and titled ''Sur'', was recorded in Paris, Sevilla, and Sofia, and was also well received. His third album, ''Without Walls!'', was released in 2012. Dorantes has collaborated with prominent artists such as Lole Montoya, Alba Molina, Susheela Raman, El Barrio, Arcángel, Carmen Linares, Miguel Poveda, and José Mercé José Mercé (born José Soto Soto in 1955 in Jerez de la Frontera) is a Spanish flamenco singer. José Luis Figuereo Franco, better known by the stage name El Barrio, is a Spanish new flamenco singer. He was born on 4 June 1970 in Cádiz, Santa María. Figuereo is known as a multi-artist from Andalucía. He is not only a singer-songwriter, but is also a composer and a poet. In his music, he uses old flamenco techniques, as well as new. His poetic style offers a fresh take on flamenco. The lyrics of his songs define an urban flamenco, with conceptual and emotional subjects. José Mercé (born José Soto Soto in 1955 in Jerez de la Frontera) is a Spanish flamenco singer. As a 12-year-old he performed at flamenco festivals. Later he moved to Madrid where he recorded his first album in 1968. Family He is the great-grandson of nineteenth-century seguiriya maestro Francisco Valencia, whose nickname was Paco la Luz.
